wild take my guy. you're saying that Amen can't learn from a vet with limited health and limited shooting, but yet when physically and mentally healthy was a great playmaker and defender? I'll say this, it's a low risk high reward opportunity that shouldn't be ignored. The team that can mentally fix Ben Simmons will get rewarded. That team might not exist but worth a shot imo.
Ben Simmons couldn't score if he were in a whorehouse and had pockets stuffed with money. But at least he can pass.
The idea would be that we are grooming Amen as point forward and Simmons would be playing 20-30 min a game. Reed would also split time at point. Tate will be gone. Holiday will be gone. Fertitta is big on loyalty. If FVV is acting out, he will backdoor a solution.
Ben Simmons is averaging 8pts 5rbds 8asst in 20 minutes. That is much needed production off our bench.
On a minimum contract, Simmons either buys in to what Udoka wants him to do, or he gets waived or rides the pine all year. Simmons has every reason to buy in to Udoka’s system because he’s looking to get a decent contract this summer. The reward far outweighs the risk.
Nice. Another non-shooter to consider? This reminds me of Morey's fetish for drafting 6' 8'' forwards. No, please.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I do weigh Roosh's intel with some gravity. In case people get their Ben Simmons hopes up (a weird thing to say). Shouldn't be too long once a result comes out.
Simmons would be a great consolation prize from the deadline. The Rockets should do all they can to get him. See if he wants some picks.
Ben Simmons as the backup PG...someone other than FVV that can actually run an offense and pick & roll???? Sign me up lol.
I know they are two different players, but if we get Simmons it kind of reminds me of when we picked up Josh Smith in the middle of the season years ago. Guy that can bring the ball up, pass, rebound, and allow us to roll out more versatile lineups. At least that would be the hope.
Not sure that missing FVV's PG skills is what is killing us. I think it's potential to actually hit a 3 pointer every now and then and play defense. FVV off the ball is a plus. FVV running the point the whole game is a minus. When FVV is playing as mostly a spot up shooter and guarding PG's, it frees Amen up to concentrate on getting those defensive rebounds and go off to the races. Jabari's absense is impacting both our perimeter defense (which was not doing well even when FVV was playing) and has forced Amen to concentrate more on interior defense. Dillon can't get a rebound to save his life. If FVV gets back before Jabari then Tari should start at Pf and Amen become the Point forward. That will help our rebounding and help our transition offense. It will help our half-court defense, because FVV is a real pest on the defensive side of the ball. Jabari's absense has exposed Dillon's defensive and rebounding issues. FVV can also step in to PG duties when we need a steady hand when we have a late lead instead of handing it over to our less experienced and turnover prone players. When Jabari gets back, FVV, Jalen, Amen, Jabari, Sengun starting with FVV playing off the ball in the half court.
remember when the rox were getting killed by the media for not taking the simmons trade package? simpler times
