They are acquiring SRPs and that's it. Nothing else. Zeller and Springer, they are not expected to contribute. Didn't Springer get waived? Regardless, everyone is overthinking this.

Rockets stayed status quo because they believe in this team. That's it. No need to overanalyze.

These second round picks are going to be used as cheap roster fillers when the Rockets feel like they are ready to compete

I believe this team has flaws. I've said it several times. I'm sure management also believe they have flaws, but they chose to stay status quo. I'm not necessarily thrilled since it would be great to have a consistent knock down shooter, but it's not the end of the world. When the season started, I always thought we would be fighting for a play-in spot, yet here we are, ahead of schedule. So I'm fine with management giving this specific group a chance.

Allergies have been killing me for a couple of weeks (Damn Cedar) so it is good to see BimaThug sees things the same way. RealGM's draft pick tracker is more convuloted now than I ever recall.

Hell, once we started racking up injuries, I'm not sure we're ahead of schedule.
Jabari out? Defense falls off a cliff.
Sengun missed several games, combined with Fred's absence? We lose those games.
Fred is "week-to-week" and we have no other consistent point guard option (Alpi and Amen are decent distributors but not point guards, so....)
I know management wants a star to shake out, one who isn't on the wrong side of 30. I'm glad they didn't make a deal just to make a deal. (Maybe they want to include Jalen Green in such a deal and couldn't thanks to that Poison Pill.)

But watching our team play decently for 3 quarters and then always just take a s*** in the 4th is painful.

Tari has been dealing with an injury most of the year. The Rockets have had good health, but it isn't like they've had perfect health. Playmaking is one of the slowest things to develop in the NBA and the Rockets have used FVV as a crutch. While not the best player on the team currently, his injury hurts more than others, IMO. Sengun and Amen look ahead of schedule in that department. Green...I'd hoped he be further along than he is. I'm not sure he's going to be much of a playmaker for others. Reed is a rookie. FVV, even with taking less on ball reps, is needed now and likely in the nest season or 2.

I'm pretty confident the Rockets this season are ahead of where they were expected to be when Ime became the coach. On offense, they still need that guy whether through internal development or trade, and then fill in some shooting at other spots. On defense, I think having a center that defends best inside can be defeated easily unless the other 4 guys are switchable above average perimeter defenders with at least one of the them being able to help on the defensive boards and switching on bigs as needed. I think Brooks and JSJ helped manage this as they've developed a lot of chemistry to cover up defensive shortcomings elsewhere.

    1. No.
    2. To satisfy requirements of a future trade such as touch rule (in trades with 3 or more teams, each team has to touch at least 2 teams in trade) or just having to trade something for it to be a trade.

Say the Rockets trade for Booker, but 2 other teams are involved because the Suns don't want Tate and the third team that receives Tate sends Player X and a pick to a 4th team. That 4th team is required to be involved with at least two teams in the trade. The Suns really don't have any spare assets to meet the touching requirements of the 4th Team. However, Houston could send this pick to the 4th team even if it never conveys to satisfy the 2 team touching requirements.

Of course. We have a whole bunch of 19-22 year olds.

Will they have the same flaws in a few years? That is the real question.
