Good return for 4M. I could see another trade like this before the deadline, but that's about it.

 

Now the only question with Springer is whether he's sent out to another team so both teams can create TPEs they can carry into next season by 2pm.

I love how posters were analyzing Springer's game as if he had a chance to get on the court. Now they are mad about Cody Zeller taking up oxygen at TC. Poor guy.

Unless I'm missing something, the only 2027 SRP Boston had was the heavily protected "Less favorable of POR and NOP if either or both 56-60" per RealGM. I think it safe that the pick isn't anymore protected than that.

I don't understand why that was included though? Just on crazy chance that Por or NOP is a top 5 team in 2027?

It is merely a "pick" to be included in trades that the Rockets don't want to send anything of value out in.

Trades require something to be sent from each team. The minimum something that can be included has to be at worst equivalent to a SRP with Top 55 protection. Stone saw this pick and thought, "I could use that pick if someday I'm going to absorb a player into an MLE, snag an SRP, and need something to send out. That pick will come in handy so I don't have to dilute a real SRP. No way Boston doesn't throw that in this trade."

It works in multi-team trades as well as each team has to touch 2 other teams in the trade.

Would much rather have had Springer than Zeller. Oh well!
