I didn’t know it was all on one guy to make a team good. That is just a silly statement to make like there aren’t other variables to being a good team.

 

You bumped your head if you think this team gets worse. We are going to be a top 5 seed for the next 10 years

 

I'm sure the Minnesota Timberwolves felt the same last season.

 

They traded for Julius Randle who is known to be a headcase. The Rockets have a better head coach, front office and young talent. Ime is eons better than Finch.

Doing something stupid just for the sake of doing something is the definition of loser mentality. It feels like your only hope is that the rockets never win a title.

 

You understand that Finch took Wolves to West Finals last season right? Or that he has taken MIN to playoffs every year he's been head coach? Or that he was 3rd place as COTY his first season with Timberwolves?

 

Go to the Timberwolves forum and see how their fans feel about Finch. He had a stacked roster and he only surpassed 50 wins in one seasons. Finch missed the playoffs after taking over as intern head coach. Also 42 and 46 wins with both anthony edwards and karl anthony towns on your roster is not impressive at all. We are about to have the same number or more wins and we don't have superstar talent like ANT.

 

Doing nothing and believing in fool’s gold when everyone else is improving is what leads to never winning a title.

 

I think we see a bit of a shift, it may have been hard to be winning that many games and to just concede some to develop Reed and Cam. I think what we have seen the past two weeks, the fact that Reed really needs to get some NBA minutes to develop and the fact that our guys are starting to get injured and that we may not finish at the top of the conference are reasons you may get your wish. Especially with these moves West teams have made, OKC is just in another stratosphere and that is without Chet. In order to be able to compete w them, we need Cam and Reed to develop into very good players, that is going to take some sacrifice and this is the year to do it. Amen also needs a chance to develop and make mistakes at the PG position too, he has not had that opportunity.

 

So what would you do to have the rockets win the title this year? What do you believe will maximize the odds that the rockets win a title in the next several years?

 

There's almost never in history a big move that yields the title the same season. Almost always takes an extra season or two. We would only have an outsiders shot this season no matter what.

Disingenuous to say that that's why we shouldn't make a move.

 

I'm against making a move for the sake of saying that we did something. If there's something that's good for the rockets in the long run, yes, do it. But nothing that i've seen would qualify (obviously i'd have given up the farm for luka if he was available to us).

 

I mean, that's just something people say. No one wants to make a move just because it's cool. Everyone has their reasons to make them or stand pat.

Yeah it's obviously subjective, my opinion is to get into deep playoff runs sooner rather than later without touching the core. I don't buy this black and white superstar designation - we just need to find the best fit (non-redundant skills and weaknesses).

 

Rockets need to acquire players that can elevate what they already do at a near elite level: generating 2nd chance points, limiting turnovers + stopping opposing offenses.

These elite high IQ run-jump switchable athletes are your core players.

Then add elite shooters to complement this core - e.g. Cam Johnson

 

Durant is the only good fit that i really see that could be gettable, but he's just SO old that i wouldn't be willing to give up the suns pick for it. He's still obviously good, but is a shell of what he used to be and will only get worse (look at any of his advanced or impact metrics). I was completely against fox because his lack of shooting is such a bad fit with amen/sengun. I still believe that the best path to a title is to keep as many assets as possible for that one big move, and i'm willing to risk missing out on so so guys for it.

 

Lakers did not give up fam for Luka. Lakers FO did not wait for perfect trade he went out and manifested one.

 

Funny you just said the Rockets keep falling in the standings like there arent other variables at play.

 

I understand they didn't give up the farm for luka, that was a once in 50 years type insanity that cannot be replicated. Only the lakers can do that, it has no application or relevance to the rockets.
