You know, not a bad thought. They want him bad. Having Butler to offer might be enough to push them over the top into sending us Booker.

At this point I think he gets traded to some team besides Phoenix for salary filler and SRPs, just because he's pissed off Riley enough that the goal is going to be to teach him a lesson. If that's the price, and he's only a half-season rental, I wouldn't mind it being us.

Let's say hypothetically... Himmy plays like he has in the playoffs so Rox make it to WC Finals or even the Ship.
NOW, a couple of things could happen
    1) Butler has proven his worth & most teams will be willing to pony up to acquire him
    2) He is now HAPPY and wants to stay in Htown (maybe even at a discount)
    3) Beal is down to only 2 years left on his contract
    4) PHX underperforms (AGAIN) & now Beal really wants out (& is willing to expand his list)
    5) Chicago has cleared LaVine's contract (& starting SG spot) and wants to battle back to the top of the LEastern Conf.

so next year... Himmy to PHX... Beal to CHI... stuff to Rox

I would want in on a 3 way and get Tyler Herro and Kalel Ware and give Miami PHX picks, our own picks and filler to take on Bradley Beal.

Honestly I prefer Herro to Booker, he is younger, ultra efficient, better defender and has playmaking ability. More importantly he is making half of Booker salary for a long time, enabling us to keep the core players despite their extensions.

Chicago doesnt want to compete they want to tank and capture the Flagg

Teams wont pony up anything for Jimmy they can just sign him in free agency lol.

Jimmy wont take any discount if he is ok with a discount why did he even feud with Riley? Thats why he wants PHX, PHX gonna pay him the max.

THIS YEAR they don't want to compete...

This would be the off-season - especially after the lottery

one year of tanking doesnt make you be a contender. Why would they want 37 yr old to play with their young players? Jimmy isnt exactly the role model you want with young players.

Jimmy has made it clear. He wants a max extension. It's the only reason he is so stuck on Phoenix. Why would Phoenix want him if they no longer have Booker or Durant? Even without Beal and with Jimmy they are over the second apron. If they don't trade away both Durant and Booker their GM is second only to Dallas in stupidity.

Sources: Jimmy Butler’s camp has repeatedly told Heat he’s in shape, healthy and ready to continue his career and move past this immediately. Their messaging to Heat has been to negotiate best deal possible and once in red zone, if that team is granted permission by MIA to speak with Butler’s rep to discuss his longterm future, that dialogue would be welcomed. To date, no team has asked for permission.

There is a fine line between love and hate. Herro would fit in with DB and Jabari. Our group have players split between nice guys like Sengun and trash talkers/fight starters.

Herro and Amen fit well together Amen is an uber athlete and playmaker who loves to drive Herro is an off the ball scorer.

Jimmy Buckets is trying for that long term deal, but it clearly ain't working.

He's not going to get the deal he wants and he may need to start thinking in 2-3 year increments.

Funny enough same reason apply to Beal too. They just got rid of Zach Lavine makes zero sense to get Beal for no reason.

Why would PHX not have Durant or Booker next season??

    I am confused.

My position was Rox get Himmy for next 5-6 months until after playoffs / draft lottery.

Then immediately trade him to PHX with Beal headed to CHI (or another locale... BRK?). Htown would get SRPs or players on expiring deals.

CHI got some decent return for moving LaVine. Better than they thought. Plus they are trying to lose THIS YEAR.

Next year, they will likely try to be competitive. You add a top 10 pick and Beal to that mix in the East and you have a shot.

I could see Phoenix doing Booker for Butler + picks during the offseason. Gives them more flexibility to make other trades to improve their roster, and, assuming Jimmy bounces back, he is at least a comparable level star player to Booker at his best, so it doesn't really make them worse in the short term. Probably a better fit next to KD than Booker too.

Have to think about Phoenix's perspective--they have been horrible at drafting for years and years. Their track record, aside from Booker, is bust after bust, a number of them top 5 lottery picks. They do not want to rebuild. The only way they'll do a full rebuild is if their stars demand a trade or if they look like they're going to miss the playoffs entirely. They want to make a championship run right now and if they can't do that, they want to at least be in the playoffs and keep trying to re-tool by making lateral moves.

So yeah, I think picking up Butler now if the price is low could make a lot of sense, if you think the reports are true that our ultimate goal is to acquire Devin Booker.

Is this Butler waiving the white flag?
