This. Guys like Jokic, Giannis, Luka, SGA are what (sane) front offices hope to find--a player so good that he can carry a team of replacement level roleplayers into the playoffs by himself. It makes everything so much easier. I don't understand all this talk from their FO about Luka making things more difficult for them moving forward. No he doesn't, he simplifies everything because you're already going to be really good just by having him on your team and his strengths, weaknesses, and playstyle instantly clarify all your other roster needs.

Team building step 1 (dream scenario): get one of the best players in the entire world. If someone is a top5 player and only 25 years old, well....

Step 2: pay them whatever they want and whatever it takes. Don't worry, there is always a min salary vet available who will come and play with your supersuperstar

Step 3: craft the roster around that top5 player. If you make the finals when they are 24 years old, your franchise is set for a decade to contend.

Step 4: trade top5 player for a bag of chips because they drink too much beer.

    Hmmmm

Anybody have numbers on how much owners make annually? If the cap was raised that means the profit margin is there, numbers from the 2000/10s would blow 1970/80s fans, owners, and players' minds. The math is changing over time and decades

I think 51% of profits have to go to the Players

So If I am correct either Giannis or Joker is up to be the 70 Million Dollar man next

Thanks, yes amazing as Luka is, those guys dominate and impact both sides of the ball and have already won MVPs and championships. I believe they have been healthier as well, I'd have to check.

Other than a guy like Curry, those guys deserve a supermax. Like others have said the very top players are likely not still getting paid the true value they bring to the game in total global revenue, media contracts, sponsorships, merch, and viewership. And Goat guys like Jordan should get residuals from the NBA for life :D

Definitely.Given the 35% of the cap one player. You have so many holes on the roster.

I've said several times here Giannis has no intention of leaving the Bucks and will sign a supermax extension in 2027.

One thing I didn't consider was any hesitation by the Bucks.

Supermax has already changed how championship teams will be built. No player is worth it relative to the way it hampers your ability to field a competitive team. Minny had to ship off Towns. Mavs shipped off Luka. Denver has been struggling.

Ground up teams like OKC and Rockets with players who are willing to take a little less to win titles are the wave of the future. Dallas title window got smaller but their chances got bigger. They were never winning a title with Luka. And the Dallas roster is significantly more talented than the Lakers.

Yep. If you have to keep it secret that you are looking to trade a star, odds are you are about to do something stupid and you just don't want it known in case you chicken out (i.e., come to your senses).

Slap SGA or Jokic on the Rockets right now on a Supermax, and the Rockets win 3-4 titles. Supermax only hampers teams that give it to lesser players and to teams that allow themselves to become roster locked.

I think the major issue is . .. . .the feeling among players (maybe even fans)
that Every team has a SUPERMAX player

    they don't
Some feel like they have to pay or lose people for nothing
    Dame . . . .. .. Beal . . .. . - These are people I would NEVER give 60 mill a year

Luka is not going to get 228 / 4
    Roughly 56 a year

    As oppose to the 345/5 - 69/Yr

There are not that many people in the league i would pay that too
    based on play/performance
so it has to be the ASSES IN SEATS part of it

Who motivates crowds to that level . . .again I don't think of anyone
    Ja - Edwards ?

Salary Cap is at 140 . . . .. I would work Hard to keep everyone under 40 million
