I wouldn’t be surprised if Luka lost weight and went on a tear for losing his supermax eligibility. He will go back to Dallas balling and cursing everyone out.
What's that to the Mavs? If the Mavs can pull off a championship or 2 over the next 3-4 years what would it matter to Nico Harris if Rockets fans are annoyed the Lakers are relevant post LeBron?
The Mavs were outscored 51-19 in the first quarter. Yeah, they are on the verge of putting it all together.
I think the Mavs are screwed either way but: Did anyone predict that, without Luka, Kyrie, or AD -- like none of them -- that they would go beat a good Cleveland team on their home court today? LOL.
I know its not going to happen, but I think the most hilarious thing would be, if one of these fools is so broken down that they fail a physical and the trade doesn't go through like with Elliot and Horry...
The fact the entire basketball world isn't in agreeance with you that throwing away the next decade isn't something people do, speaks volumes to what side of the fence you're on haha.
Here’s my theory. The ownership group decided they didn’t want to pay Luka for financial reasons. The GM being inexperienced and DEI crapped his pants - if Luka finds out that the Mavs don’t plan to resign him, other teams would have leverage in a trade. The GM calls his buddy Pelinka who he trusts. Trade is made. AD is not a first option. AD is just as injury prone. The first round pick is meaningless cause the Lakers will be a playoff team. This trade reeks of mismanagement and incompetence.
I don't think they played most of their regulars in the game, did they? Looking at the boxscore it looked like a G-League team with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 guys.
Sure man It's the fact that you are personally annoyed that the Lakers will be relevant in 8 years and not a more pressing issue like not fully capitalizing on a return for Doncic that's the concern here: your feelings on the lakers relevance. Not lack of return.
How are you going to tell me that Luka can be had for less than Mikal Bridges? Rudy Gobert went for what? 8 first rounders? And Luka gets you AD, Max Christie and a single first round pick? And presumably a low first rounder now that they'll have Luka on their team for the forseeable future. I've said elsewhere, but this was exactly the moment the Rockets have been building their war chest for, and they weren't even informed he was available. This ought to be heavily investigated. I'm not a big conspiracy guy. For example, I don't think the NBA Draft lottery is rigged. I don't think most refs make calls to favor teams (at least not intentionally), but this? The Lakers get one of the five best players in the league for a guy who is in street clothes as much as he's in his jersey, a decent young player who isn't worth more than a late first rounder and a single first round pick? Man, this is just too much. I don't understand how every single draft pick the Lakers owned isn't in the deal (and I know that cabinet is pretty bare, but I think they have a 31 first rounder available) and Austin Reeves, Dalton Knecht and whatever else they wanted. It's Luka friggin' Doncic.
While Luka should've netted the Mavs more, I'm glad they didn't shop around. Mavs got terribly worse for the future. Having AD isn't gonna win them a championship in Kyrie's window. While Lakers have their franchise player to build around, their front office is generally incompetent and I doubt they can build a contender around Luka. This trade seems like a win for the Rockets.
