This is bad for all of the NBA, and pro sports in general. If the cost isn’t too great, **** the fans… for money.
This thread, and this whole story = pure gold. Trades used to happen with more suprise like this. It's like a throwback trade. Over-rated: Mavs playoff run through an f-ed up Western conference last year. Over-rated: Lebron-Luka pairing. Under-rated: Other Mavs down-low probably happy he's gone. Under-rated: Dumb GM over-rating AD in a huge way, thinking back, I guess, to his younger days and his (admittedly incredible) former ceiling. Over-rated: conspiracies... but still possible. It's just so hilarious that Dallas ended up with just 1 pick out of all this.
That would be more feasible to me. And in that case, the NBA (and all other NBA teams) should hire an independent investigator to determine if there is anything actually there. They just banned a player who tried to scam lines based on his stats for pocket change. You cannot let there be any semblance about the lack of legitimacy of the league.
I'd have included Amen in the trade for Luka. As much as I like Amen, Amen is not at the same level as Luka.
So Luka is not even eligible for the supermax. Not only did the Lakers get him for an aging broken down player in AD even if he’s an all star he’s on the downside of his career they’ll get him with a much cheaper contract. Luka was already worth a gazillion draft picks. At this point it’s no longer even a risk in terms of his conditioning they got him for free
