I can only understand the Mavs not wanting to pay him if he’s a drug addict and alcoholic whose body is cooked because he’s NBA obese

    nothing else makes sense

they just went to the finals

The Mavs new ownership group is from Vegas. Would they tank to move to Vegas? I think that’s a HUGE stretch cause Dallas > Vegas market.

I've seen more and more theories that this is a real move to tank the Mavs to move them to Vegas.

I doubt this. They have a lease until 2031. Their arena is under renovation, too. They do want a new arena, but by the time they could get one, the NBA will already have an EXPANSION team in Las Vegas.

Maybe the under the table deal involves breaking the lease early and having Nike or the NBA cover the costs? I simply refuse to believe such a plan, which was allegedly in the works for weeks, doesn't involve some kind of compensation for the Adelsons for giving up Luka for peanuts. Saving tens of millions on luxury tax isn't worth losing out on the hundreds of millions that having a true superstar ENTERING HIS PRIME provides.

It's only a big deal b/c he's chubby. MJ and Pip drank beers before and after games. Jokic does too if im not mistaken, but Jokic lost weight and kept it off, and looked naturally chubby while Luka looks beer bloated. It's all in his face. Maybe he ends up Barkley like. All the talent, but not enough drive to get into peak condition. I can easily see Luka's weight getting worse in the LA lifestyle, but LA will let him party it up as long as he hoops. Will he trade beers for the cocaine diet?

Nah, Luka's going to lock in, he just lost 120 million dollars garunteed and will least be playing for a 3 year deal that gives him the supermax at 28.

If Luka wanted strippers and blow in Dallas, my 100 year old grandmother could find it for him.

So obvious the league is rigged for lebron and LA. The funny thing was, we also thought it was highway robbery when the lakers got AD.

Nobody thought it was highway robbery when they got davis because they paid a massive price. Everyone thought they overpaid.

There's something super weird about this trade. The fact that it's happening now instead of the summer. The Mavericks are receiving a top-10ish player that should theoretically keep them in contention. The compensation could be the Mavericks return to the Finals and win the championship. But then that would be two former LeBron star teammates winning a championship together without him.

There's the Lakers' angle, which is a whole thing. And the LeBron angle. The only thing that makes sense is that this is a complete crap that needs to be vetoed.

Mavs Decided To Only Pursue Anthony Davis In Luka Doncic Deal; Did Not Make Doncic Publicly Available

The Dallas Mavericks decided to only pursue Anthony Davis in a potential Luka Doncic deal, according to Marc Stein.

The team did not make Doncic available to other teams.

The Mavs believe that Davis returns a top-10 player in the league, along with the 2029 first-round pick.

Davis also has a prior relationship with Nico Harrison from their days at Nike. Harrison has a relationship with Rob Pelinka from when Harrison was at Nike and Pelinka represented Kobe Bryant.

Doncic did not ask the Mavs to get traded.

The Mavs initially offered Doncic to the Lakers "a few days ago."

Losing in the Finals didn’t make him lock in. I doubt this will.

He’s gonna get the Supermax no matter what.

This for sure feels like Harrison doing pelinka a solid and Dallas not wanting to pay Luka. This could be enough with just kyrie no? The extra burn comes from not securing any future draft capital.

Considering that Lakers have no draft capital and that Dallas wanted Anthony Davis, I guess it makes sense.
