The Mavs thought every superstar is low maintainance and easy like Nowitzki, nope they aren't. Franchises have to be loyal first in these days. Mavs aren't a franchise that strikes me as rock solid either. Congratulations on the 3 over 30s, AD, KT and Kyrie. Not going to talk bout Thompson's knee.
In my mind I see the Lakers brass laughing their asses off when Dallas agreed to this trade. The Lakers were joking around with that offer, but the Mavs thought they were serious and for some reason agreed to it.
No he is not untouchable. What is wrong with people who it comes to blindly overvaluing their players. Luka is literally a top 5 player in the league and he is 25 years old. Houston takes that deal with no questions asked. Jesus man.
If the Lakers don't make an additional trade before the deadline, I think they're probably less likely to contend this season than prior to the trade. They have no point-of-attack defender and have no interior defense. It would seem like they may be the worst defensive team of all the NBA playoff contenders after the trade. Additionally, I think Austin Reeves loses some value in the shadow of Doncic as Luka controls the ball so entirely. It would be easy though for the Lakers to acquire some rim protection/interior defense. It seems Nic Claxton, Poetl or Clint Capela could all address their interior defense and none should be very expensive. I think the Mavs clearly take a step back though with the trade though. The Rockets should see this as further opportunity to contend this season. I hope we make a trade for an elite role player- Cam Johnson and Jose Alvardo would both fit here nicely.
Having the Mavs and Suns pick in 2029....looking pretty damn tasty right now. Still a long way out and things can change, but given the aging status of both teams they look extremely promising timeline wise.
I am usually anti-Mavs but I feel the pain for Mavs fans this time. This must be very tough to swallow.
I was coaching my sons basketball team, then went to check the rockets score, front page of yahoo sports had this trade posted. I was so shocked at the trade I forgot to check the rockets score. Which in the end turned out to be a **** result anyway. I mean seriously something seriously bad has happened behind the scenes at Dallas that they wanted to get rid of him ASAP. I can not fathom why you would take that deal for Doncic. They could of called any team in the NBA and asked for their Young players and I am sure they would do.
This was done intentionally to piss of the Mavericks fanbase...now the Adelson family has an excuse to move the team to Las Vegas!!
Can't be overstated that the Mavericks wanted Luka gone. Almost by any immediate means necessary. They knew they could probably posture and create a bidding war but instead thought it better the jettison dude immediately. Wonder why.
Make a run at Cade and Ausar maybe. That is what's expected for the name Doncic. Rising stars instead of an aging guy.
Definitely. Lebron and Rich Paul though don't seem like guys who give a **** about anyone else's future. I expect the Lakers will make another move but I hope they don't. Rob Pelinka has had a great day though. It's like stealing 100 bitcoin from a baby.
