Haha - I feel like his all star potential has been there since his first season but especially obvious after Udoka took over. Personally I've always shied away from the hyperbole of "he can be the best player on a title team" or "he's closer to MVP level Jokic" but I've always thought he was a future all star - just something closer to a Sabonis type of player which is amazing but not necessarily "the guy you build a team around" but rather "a guy you build a winning team with". As Amen has emerged and as Jalen has at least found his shot, it's definitely changed my view on whether we can win a title with Sengun though...but that's more about Amen's ceiling than seeing more promise in Sengun. I was watching some old videos of Sengun's Turkey season last night and it's kind of incredible how much his game still closely resembles what it did at 18. I think he is what he is - and that's a super valuable all star with super high bball IQ. I don't think he will ever be an MVP candidate or the best player on a title team, but can he win a series in the right matchup? Absolutely...and more importantly, his bball IQ and quick processing (like Amen's) makes the game easier for everyone else which is exactly why he deserved that all star nod this year. Congrats to Alpi - well earned!!! Hopefully he plays tomorrow because I'm going to be in town and was hoping to catch the game in person.
We once again see how important Alperen is for this team and how much he makes things easier for the players around him. It's not just about statistics—there are many valuable things Alperen brings to this team that don’t always show up in the numbers. Hopefully, those who have been trying to undermine him for months have realized his true value. No Alpi, no party.
Kind of crazy Sengun's vital importance on both ends of the court is shown even more when he simply doesn't play.
Yeah, I think what he actually meant was that when a player is missing, it is not an excuse for the others to play with no effort and no energy. But of course, if one wants to, one can interpret his words as "that specific player would not have made a difference", the way he phrased it. Not his best postgame interview.
Without Sengun, thisteam loses its balance.. Sengun does not have to score 30 points a game. He is the brain, hub of and center of intelligence offense. We need him ASAP.. Anyone knows when he is back. He is our MVP. And no one close....
There are some who will never, ever, ever admit this. They will rather watch and claim that "Sengun gets hunted".
