Awesome for Alpi! And maybe this will teach Jalen why it's a bad idea to "float" some games. If he played the entire year like he did in December and most of January, he'd have been in there, too.
One major variable is left out in the stats. Alpi is the main target of the other teams as the player to focus and stop at any cost, often leaving the other Rockets and daring them to shoot. The whole defensive scheme of opponents is to immediately double and triple Alpi once he gets in the paint. Sabonis does not get that kind of attention and defensive schemes from the Kings' opponents. The lack of context is often the problem in reading or interpreting stats.

They are never giving it to Dort or Harty, OKC has that 2nd AS spot locked once Chet is healthy, just a matter of when and who. Teams with five players or more contributing are getting less love.
We all know the stats don't tell the whole story. A 20 point scorer on a terrible team might not even crack the 8 mean rotation for a championship level team. Alperen Sengun is much better than his stats. Not only is the opposing team gameplans around Sengun, constantly double teams him, has film studied him and his tendencies and tries to counter all those - not only all that but his team is winning and winning big. He is absolutely a no doubter all star
