That isn't love. That is brainwashing. I don't care about the flag. I care about the country and the people in it. I love it so much I want people to be able to come here and enjoy what it has to offer. I care so much that I actively participate in trying to make it better.
Bcz he fired thousands of employees at the FAA and did a hiring pause at the agency? He just offered early retirement at a time their already at low staffing levels.
I don't know who staffs the tower at DCA. I doubt that whatever Trump did had an impact a few days later. I think @deb4rockets (who is an expert) is right - both sides should stop blaming each other, and wait for the outcome of an investigation.
So if you love your family and your house, you express that by leaving the door open and inviting an unlimited number of random strangers to come in and stay? OK.
He literally just FIRED A BUNCH OF EMPLOYEES in an agency that was already short staffed. Its not DEI dude.
Why was staffing not normal? You know why, he short staffed an agency that was already short staffed.
....And just let Elon Musk fire the FAA head because his goddamned job is to keep dei hire dipshits like Musk from crashing debris into your house
imagine flying your country flag is needed to love your own country, lol. there are time and place for it. constantly flying the flag is obnoxious. hell, when traveling abroad if people see the US flag on your luggage or backpack they look at you disgusted.
I don't agree with most of what Trump does personally or professionally, but blaming him for the accident is absolutely ridiculous. Do I disagree with his often dangerous flat out lies and political BS takes on things like this, or other disasters? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean I blame him for the tragedy. Sure, manning should never be frozen in fields like air traffic control, and facilities being undermanned was happening decades ago. I know that because I experienced it many times under different Presidents. I worked air traffic control for 20 years in the Navy and believe me when I say this, if your facility is understaffed you are put under a lot more stress than necessary. You can go from working two hours at a time from one position to another in the tower and in radar for 8 hours straight without more than a 5 minute break on an average day if you are understaffed. Eating while you work is common. What's even more stressful is training controllers to control aircraft with pilots training pilots to fly aircraft at the same time. You have to allow trainees time to correct an error before you jump in, and the instructor pilots have to do the same thing. That split second timing on when to override the mic and correct the error or take control is critical. Now, as for manning. People don't come in and fill spots. It takes months of studying, training, and testing to qualify on each and every position. Many work 4 years at a facility without qualifying on all the positions. It's not easy. You are memorizing and drawing by memory all types of air charts, airport layouts, airways, flight paths, and emergency procedures. You are memorizing lots of different frequencies and rules, and then, you are tested on every portion of it, and required to be able to work that position safely after months of training before being given the qualification to work it. The entire tower and radar facilities coordinate with each other constantly and work as a team, and it's not unusual at all for a tower controller to be talking to 15 or 20 different aircraft while also coordinating takeoffs, departures, and runway crossings by vehicles and planes. Don't be a fool to believe that someone with a serious intellectual deficiency is working as an air traffic controller. That's absurd. Just stop with the stupid DEI BS already. It's such a horrible and stupid take. You don't get qualified in that type job if you can't pass the tests, and certainly not if you can't think quickly under pressure and make good decisions. You also have to understand why manning is so critical. People transfer in and out every year. So, the controllers you spend years training have to be trained for years to replace. Your qualifications start all over every time you transfer. Every air traffic control facility is different. You don't walk in and just work a position. Back to square one again. Memorizing all the airways, maps, frequencies, routes, and so on. There should never be a hiring freeze or manning shortage for those reasons, especially in the military, because no air traffic controllers stay at one facility for more than 5 years. I was stationed at 7 facilities in 20 years.
That's great & all, but Trump just signed an executive order *officially* blaming DEI (desegregation) for the crash. https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/com...ing-faa-lead-in-wake-of-dca-crash/ar-AA1y9cjO
so blaming Trump is ridiculous, but here he is blaming this on Obama, Biden, and “DEI” and just signed an EO about it so Idc he is the one who fired the head of the TSA, fired the head of the Aviation Safety Committee, put a hiring freeze on Air Traffic Controllers…he is the one putting incompetent drunks in charge of defending the nation…he is the one putting brain worms in charge of the nation’s health there will be more disasters coming, and he will get the blame the same way MAGAts blame everything that happens under a Democrat presidency on Democrats…they’ll blame things that happen under a republican on Democrats as well as they are currently trying to do right now…
No, I'm not blaming Trump for the crash. Period. I think his responses and political takes are absurd, especially any DEI remarks when it comes to air traffic controllers. Like I said, a hiring freeze and understaffed air traffic control facilities is a huge safety issue. It should never happen. I'm also qualified to tell you that I don't see how any recent hiring freeze could possibly make a difference in this particular crash. The effects take much longer because of the time it takes to train and qualify air traffic controllers or pilots. Trump hasn't been President that long.
I trust @deb4rockets on this (in both directions). I quoted some of the DEI tweets, and they are also misplaced in this context. As someone who flies probably more than anyone else on this forum, I am highly appreciative and grateful for the work air traffic controllers like @deb4rockets do.
Do we know how many of the fired employees were actually air traffic controllers? I know that we've had a short of ATC's for a while. Here is an article from NPR in 2023. https://www.npr.org/2023/11/09/1211...ge-close-calls-senate-safety-near-miss-senate I did see that towards the end of 2024, the feds were able to reach a hiring goal, but that did not mean they were still not short staffed. I could see Trump firing individuals as a potential as why this incident happened, but I think we should look further into it before we simply state this was the reason for the crash. Were ATC's fired from Reagan prior to the incident, thus leading for an increased work load to an already fatigued ATC? I'm not Trump apologist, but lets at least get the story straight first. If the answer is, "we really won't know if firings affected staffing last night until a full report is released on staff levels at DCA", then we just don't have an answer yet.
It will come out the helicopter pilot and one of the other women on board were gay lovers and the other woman beat the pilot with a hammer.
