Very fortunate that WV ran out of gas. Offense cant stall the way it did just because they deny Jwan.
I think WVU played possum in the first half and gave it everything they had to start the second half. They used all their energy cutting our half time lead from 20 to 5 with a lot of time left. Fortunately they missed at least three front end of one and ones and ran out of gas.
Well, and I think going into the game... WV was a decent team. I was really surprised we blew them out in the 1st half. Not because we aren't really good, but just because a 20 pt halftime lead is pretty damn dominating. Ahh well. At least we won.
A win is a win. Coogs have no problem winning ugly. When they started 4-3 you had to wonder if this was going to be a rebuild year. 13 straight wins later, here we are. Also 18-game conference winning streak.
I never saw this as a rebuild year. Just back luck and why the heck can't we beat Alabama. The loss against SDSU was most unexpected and caused a lot of the experts to sour on us. This bad start for us ended up being a blessing in disguise IMO. We learned from it. We dug deeper. Our back was against the wall and continues to be against the wall as the doubters wait for us to stumble. Fortunately this happened back in November and is in the rearview mirror. Couldn't be happier or prouder of our coach and players. They have worked their asses off and deserve the good fortune and success that has came their way lately.
If the comparison can be forgiven, this is similar to the Patriots several years... they would have some early Sept/Oct loses and not look so hot, then come charging down the stretch to win it all. I'm convinced Belichick liked (at least subconsciously) losing early games so the team had to keep listening to coach.
They have some guys who can hit the three and a guy that can play inside that will be a handful for Jwan. Don't know about their defense. I see the spread is up to 10.5 this morning but I am still expecting a dogfight. Overall not sure how good they are but like everybody else we are going to get their best shot. They average beating teams by 17 and we average beating teams by 21 so it should be a good matchup. They score on average slightly more than we do but they have not been up against a defense like ours. With college basketball anything is possible but I think we win this by 5-10 points.
