Amen Thompson is the Rockets' REAL franchise player

Could Reed not at least have gotten in as a G League dude? It's a weird format if you have those guys but not Reed.

I don't think the Rockets realize it at times. Yesterday the Rockets were like...hey go win us the game and Amen literally said "lol ok".

 

I thought McCain was injured.

It brings me no joy to say this but very soon Thompson will poster a player so bad, said player will have to go on suicide watch.

I truly believe he has the potential to be the second-best Rockets player of all time. I do not recall someone being this complete a player at such a young age in the years I've been watching the Rockets (since 1985). There have always been flashes of greatness, but never in all facets of the game like this.

Love Amen, but today you could see that it still looks a bit different when he has to rely on self-creation and doesn't benefit that much from Alpi's and Jalen's gravity.

 

Meh, I don't agree with this take at all. He didn't really score much yesterday because he didn't really shoot much. Frankly, I think he needs to be taking more shots, regardless. I mean, he scored 11 points on 5 shots. That's a 68 TS%.

Since Bari went down, Amen has basically averaged 19/11/4.5 with a .62 TS%. A lot of that is due to the fact that he is a really good creator. He just doesn't do it enough at this point.

They all create for each other. That's what good teams do. I don't know what games this guy is watching, but Amen can get into the lane pretty much at will and is really great at spotting the open man and getting them the ball. His handles will continue to tighten up. I too think he defers too much and should initiate the offense more and more often as the season progresses. This last game he was obviously gassed. Probably couldn't sleep after the game he had against Boston.

 

Exactly. This is why I like the Green, Amen, Sengun pairing - they are all creators in their own unique ways. Green is a "first step" guy with a decent 3 shot, Amen is a downhill freak athlete with a high basketball IQ, and Sengun is a facilitating hub who can damage you in a lot of different ways. It's incredibly difficult to assemble a group of defenders that can defend all that.
