So you think he hurt his knee because it was his 147th game? You can hurt your knee in the first game just as easily. Yordan was raking all year, never showed signs of being worn down. He got hurt trying to hustle a single into a double, in his 147th game.

I don't have any expectations for McCullers so who cares.

Garcia still not being ready is extremely alarming, opening day will be almost 2 years from surgery. Recovery should not take this long.

McCullers is never ready so no surprise there. Luis Garcia is concerning though. Don’t understand how he’s not going to be ready.

Yeah Garcia might be a mental thing at this point

He injured himself running the bases. There is absolutely no way you can make this determination.

You can make an argument for telling him not to dive in the OF or slide on the bases. If he gets thrown out then so be it.

What is more likely? Yordan getting hurt on some random "freak" base running incident? Or Yordan getting hurt after 147 games, playing 53 games in LF, legging out doubles and scoring from second on singles, etc?

BTW, I did notice that Yordan played less hard in LF, as the season went on. I know. Completely subjective.

The injury had zero to do with his number of games.

Dude, you are ******** all over Garcia with absolutely ****ing zero evidence.

If Garcia is not ready, I will give the man enough grace to say that it is not his fault, BRO.

There has never been in the existence of the MLB a player who has wore down over a full season?

    Good to know.

Did I **** all over him? Often times there is a mental hurdle to get over with a major injury. How is bringing that up “******** all over Garcia”? I even said “might be”. You need to relax.

    is he your friend?

The Astros bullpen was great in 2023 and then mostly crap last season. They got cute doubling down on a strength and it didn't work.

Sometimes closers like Pressly are only good in the 9th. I wonder if he would have been fine if left to his role. It's water over the bridge, now. I'd personally rather trade Hader and that long term contract with $76m left, but he's got a full no trade clause.

One of them has to go. That's too much money for a mediocre bullpen when you've got bigger needs elsewhere.

I did not mean to go after you hard, if that is how you see it.

Your original comment is reducing the Garcia injury and recovery to a ... mental thing.. I hope that you realize that this is a pejorative.

You likely have a more nuanced opinion than this.

There are physical and mental components to recovery from a serious injury.

There is a non-zero chance that Garcia will not be able to pitch again at the MLB level.

We only get to see injury updates a handful of times a year. These updates usually do not go any deeper than "looking good and hopeful for a return soon". We have no way of knowing what is really going on behind the scenes. Garcia could be mentally checked out, sitting at home and cashing his paychecks. Or he could be working his ass off in rehab. I do not know which. I suspect that you do not know as well.

And this might be Dana Brown explaining to the fans why he is going to be aggressive looking for more pitching.

Houston’s AAA depth is in much better shape now than it was this time last year but if Garcia and McCullers aren’t ready by opening day then there’s a real risk their careers are over.
