Nah I'm just asking why you don't apply your same standards for different players? You come in so strong about Jalen Green but make all the excuses in the world for Reed Sheppard? What's up with that? You so mad about Jalen's performance after 10 games of scoring like one of the best players in the world how come I never saw a bad post from you regarding Reed Sheppard? Sheppard hasnt even had 1 great game and almost every game he plays he is terrible. Just the last game he played he shot 25% FG against scrubs. Thats a lot worse than Jalen's game today so why arent you mad at Sheppard? Where's all these posts about making lame excuses for Sheppard's terrible performance? Thats why I know you are just a hypocrite and a jater. If you actually believed the **** you say you'd be posting mad at Sheppard everyday since Sheppard has played much worse than rookie Jalen Green ever did.
God forbid the kid has TWO not-great games in a row. You guys will go back to the tired old "trade him while he still has some value" shtick.
hand, calf, knee and then his foot/ankle this game - he’s banged up but he doesn’t like missing games rough stretch of games coming up to not be healthy
I was at the game, and his hand seemed to be bothering a little bit Idk if it was an issue for him the other night, I didn’t watch the Blazers game
Oh boy. What a really, really, really, really strange take. Considering I said literally 3-4 days ago I don't even want to trade Jalen for Booker. How does that fit into your garbage narrative? You're really having a hard time grasping the idea that people are concerned the guy who has played subpar for 80% of his career - spattered with inconsistent hot streaks - may have, gasp, just had another hot streak instead of having actually turned the corner. Your overreaction really is peculiar considering my recent comments surrounding Jalen.
Been an on going thing since nugs or grizz game forgot which one. But I was the game too, he was limping.
He sit really early 1st qtr - and came back in to shoot on last possession then sit til 6min in 2nd qtr … he got to rim but was getting blocked or missing and all his jumpers were short
he was checking the brace or whatever more this game than Blazer game, can’t tell if it got hit early in game or not til I rewatch but I remember on a behind back dribble where he couldn’t control the ball
You’re saying it’s strange that he thinks that? While your avatar is what it is. Do you what you want. Personally in my opinion it’s strange that someone follows a team and presumably wants the team and its players to do well has that as an avatar on said teams fan website. I would never have that and don’t understand why anyone would.
I'd rather he just rest up and heal up his hand or w/e it is thats bothering him. I honestly dont give a crap about the all star game I'm more concerned with regular season and the playoffs. If you look at Embiid I think its deplorable that dude suited up for the Olympics and then became too injured to play in the regular season.
I want to love Jalen. He's a Rocket and I am a red colored goggles homer. I want him to be the man. Sometimes he is the man, his game shows it, but this interview I think might hold the clue as to why I still don't think he's the answer for the position long term and will never be a top 20 player in the league for a full season. In the beginning of the video says he loses focus. When asked to explain his success he says, "...just trying to stay engaged. I tend to float a bit...the causes of bad games and inconsistency." He is too important for the team with our ambitions to "float a bit." But that is only a symptom of what feels like might be his bigger handicap. I'm afraid to even suggest it because it could so easily be misinterpreted. Jalen is a feel player, I don't think anyone would argue this, but it doesn't seem to me he has the gears to be an intentional player. If the conditions aren't just right for him, does he have the executive function to "figure it out." I don't think he does. I think this is reflected in his speech patterns as well. This interview is the most articulate I've ever heard him. The most insightful. This gives me some hope that all is not lost. Has there ever been a GREAT basketball player who didn't both exude confidence and intelligence? I don't need him to be Shane Battier or Chris Paul but I really wonder if the game will ever elevate to more than instinct and/or quick twitch muscles. The coaches seem to be figuring out to help Jalen feel his way into the game more, I wish they didn't need to work that hard. Again. Please Jalen, prove me wrong. Prove to me you've got the gears to keep your focus. We need you to if we care going to prove the haters wrong.
Jalen has never been inarticulate, he just doesn't enunciate well. If you go back to his interviews starting with him analyzing his own tape in the G-league, he's always been self-aware and seemingly very coachable. I think there are many very valid criticisms to his game, but he is not unintelligent just because he doesn't speak the Queen's English. As for great players that didn't "exude confidence and intelligence", it depends on your definition of "exuding". Moses Malone was very confident and very, very intelligent but was made fun of because of his accent and introversion in interviews. People called Dennis Rodman dumb on the Pistons because he was a shy young dude who wasn't confident in front of cameras. He might be one of the smartest basketball minds of all time. So, I dunno. It just depends on what you're looking for, in my opinion.
I will take a self-aware and reflective person who knows and wants to work on their faults 10 times out of 10 over someone who “exudes confidence” and is sure they have it all figured out as a 22-year old.
Honestly bro, I know you're sharing a genuine analysis, but the truth is you're just not aware of the symbols of confidence for a 22 year old if you think Jalen Green doesn't exude confidence as a human being. If anything he displays excessive confidence. You just have to accept it that the world (younger people than us) decided to change what constitutes acceptable speech patterns and what constitutes an alpha male and confidence patterns. It was different before us, it will be different after us and it's forever changing. Regarding your question, one of the greatest players of all time is one of the dumbest adults I've ever witnessed in my life (Shaq). He's not the only one. Jalen is not dumb at all, he was just underdeveloped from a basketball fundamentals standpoint and taking more shots than he should have been allowed to take killed his efficiency and probably his confidence on the court during the darkest of times in the Silas era.
