I can't even picture Altuve playing left field at his height. He's 7 inches shorter than the average outfielder. Unless he has Gumby arms to stretch up above the wall, and can leap higher than most players I can't see the point of it.

They always said he was too small (& not good enough). Hell, they sent him home! I have no doubt he would prove them wrong again.

His height also prevents him from getting to line drives and ground balls at 2B that someone like Dubon gets.

Correct. Spotrac has us at $4.4M UNDER the first CBT threshold based on their version on the estimates you mentioned. For comparison, Fangraphs and Cot's Contracts both estimate we are about $3M over the first CBT.

If Breggy does return, I don't see a realistic scenario where we dip under the CBT in 2025, but a Pressly trade will at least keep us under the 2nd threshold. Should be easy to get back under in 2026 with all that money coming off the books (approx. $55M amongst Abreu, Montero, Caratini, Framber).

I think Montero is a wild card. The Guardians just traded Myles Straw, who they’d previously DFA’d and outrighted, in a salary dump. I am not certain about the rules but based on that I think Houston could package prospects with Montero and get rid of his $11M salary. Montero and Pressly make $26M which could get them under the CBT even after signing Bregman. Trading Caratini could free up another $6M.

I would give up Pressly for free and wouldn’t care on the return.

Pressly was literally perfect when he was a closer in the postseason and may have been our MVP in the World Series run. Yet people wanna talk s**t.

We got some ungrateful ass fans, and they wonder why no player is "loyal". Every man for themselves, I don't blame Pressly one bit for trying to squeeze what he can from his option.

The point of it is that they (1) don't have good offensive outfielders right now, (2) Altuve's defense is going to be mediocre/bad whereever he is, (3) he can't be the DH due to Alvarez, and (4) it would allow them to bring back Bregman.

The number of times being tall actually helps in the OF is pretty small compared to the infield. Better to have bad defense in LF than at 2B, realistically anyway.

In which he should not have a NTC. He’s no superstar.

The entire bullpen was dominant. Stop acting like it was only Pressly.

That would be the Astros fault then for negotiating poorly.

Yall need to chill with all the disrespect. He helped win a World Series here. That means he's good for life in HTown in my book. He's earned that right to decide where he wants to go. That's what happens when u dominate the playoffs like he did. Teams tend to give u things u want in your contract. He didn't get a no trade clause from sucking. U people have a short memory. Makes me sick sometimes. I hope he accepts the trade. If not yall need to remember he earned that ****.
