What happened to you man? You used to be one of the guys i looked forward to reading their posts. It's all good for you to play the Jesus schtick. But constantly cussing and going after other posters for no reason is pretty classless. Lost all respect for you dude.
This statement right here is why I think he will waive that no trade clause. If he wants closer money after this season that is. "One swaying factor, speculatively speaking, could be that the Cubs would almost certainly use Pressly as their closer. That’s a role he filled — and filled quite well — in Houston from 2020-23, when he saved 102 games and pitched to a 2.99 ERA with a huge 31.5% strikeout rate in 198 2/3 innings. He was bumped to a setup role in 2024 after the Astros’ signing of Josh Hader on a five-year, $95MM contract."
Steinbrenner's make all their wealth off of the team - the Yankees are not a diversion for them, but literally a family business.... if I were a Yankees fan I would not be happy.
Every consecutive year being over the CBT brings more severe penalties. Being over the CBT in 2024 and 2025 is much much worse than being over in 2024 and 2026. The Astros simply aren't the Dodgers or Yankees. And let's not forget the early playoff exit meant much less revenue than the recent past. Hopefully they can sign Bregman but still reset.
Meh. Not ridiculous to think the backup C would play a few games at 1B. Caratini and Diaz each played 11g there last season. With no true backup 1B on the roster (adding Bregman very likely means Singleton is gone) and only one other bench player capable of playing infield, somebody has to get some time when Walker needs a breather. You can say most of those 20 games might go to Diaz instead, but “ridiculous” is a stretch.
Yeah, it’s pretty ridiculous. Having Salazar start 80 games when Caratini didn’t even start that many last year is wild. But if you’re really going to play Salazar, you might as well just let him catch and let Diaz play 1B if your idea is “keeping them fresh” for the playoffs. We’ve barely won the division the last two years and you’re suggesting benching a healthy Yordan and Walker for 60+ games combined. Edit: Just noticed you have Diaz benched for 40 games and Paredes for 30 more. Lmao doing way too much.
Your whole list involves basic assumptions about rest days that are incorrect. Yordan sat 15 games last year, Altuve 9, Yainer 12, Pena 5, Bregman 17. These guys don't need or want 30+ games off each. This team as constructed isn't good enough to sit their best players that many games. And it's not necessary. Heck, the Dodgers won 98 and Shohei played 159 games, Freeman at 34 played 147.
It’s not some kind of hard and fast prescription, just more of an expectation. Planning to have a guy healthy enough to start 160 (or even 150) games is “ridiculous”.
Yeah, wait until you get to the part Diaz and Altuve are also benched for 40 games each plus Paredes and Walker for 30 each on top of Yordan.
Not sure what crawled up everybody’s ass. You can go look up how many games each guy has average over the last few years and 130 is a pretty solid estimate assuming average health. Those guys that played everyday last year did so because the division was so close and the bottom of the lineup so weak. If Abreu and McCormick hadn’t been ass then Altuve/Yainer/Yordan/Bregman all would have gotten more rest.
It’s 20 actually because you have them all at 130 but who’s counting. I guess you’re right, I’m the one being ridiculous. They all are going to get hurt. And Salazar is going to play 1B over Diaz, Dubon, Walker or Paredes. Lmao.
You're taking this more personally than you need to. Assuming healthy, none of those guys are skipping as many games as you suggest. Someone might get hurt, and then we will need Dubon or whoever to play a lot of games at that position. You can't plan for that or bake it into your projections, though. Mild injuries won't even out among the starters. Someone may get hurt like Tuck did last year and miss half the season.
If your whole premise is that my estimates are “ridiculous” because you think all those guys will play ~140 games instead of 130, that’s picking some nits and not worth discussing. If you think that Diaz, Altuve, Walker, Yordan, Bregman, Pena, and Paredes will average >140 games, please tell me what odds you’ll give me on the under for that bet because it’s not happening. Pena and Paredes are the only players I would reasonably pencil in for >140 games. Altuve, Walker, and Bregman are players in their 30s who should get more rest than normal. Alvarez is fragile and needs frequent rest. You don’t want your starting catcher playing >130 games a year if you can avoid it, especially if your DH spot isnt open.
