Hand crews, the most elite of which are sometimes called “hotshots,” fight wildfires with chain saws, axes and shovels, setting containment lines and then sticking around to meticulously monitor smoldering fires, feeling by hand for heat and digging out live spots to make sure fires don’t relight.

The city staffed its own team — made up of unpaid, mostly teenage volunteers — only on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Crowley warned the commission that there would inevitably come a day when L.A. would need the important grunt work of a “hand crew” and one would not be available, which could “mean the difference in containment or out of control spread.”

It's the art of the deal of a sick and twisted psycho of a President, that's for sure, to use his political stipulations on a Governor when it comes to getting aid to Americans in desperate need of help. It's like the COVID nightmare all over again. Just wait until hurricane season when he expects governors to take care of their own states, and cut FEMA funding and personnel. If it doesn't make him money, if it doesn't put money into his greedy grifting hands, then he doesn't give a damn.

 

Those are red states. He'll fund those no problem.

 

I guess favors for loyalty do matter most to him, so as long as those governors bend a knee, grovel at his feet, and follow his barking orders without hesitation you are probably right.

 

And then Texas, Florida, and Louisiana will stop building along the coasts to continue to receive their disaster relief aid?
