if any of them did what elon did in that video then i would call it a nazi salute too. the full video of elon giving the nazi salute is way worse than a single image. he knew what he was doing.


also, i dont remember actual nazis praising any of them like they are now praising musk.

The scariest part of all this is the explicit Nazi salute from Elon is the least convincing aspect of why the Maga movement is heavily Nazi coded.

Like when the head of the maga movement talks about migrants poisoning the blood of our country, that is a more obvious Nazi gesture because it's expressing Nazi ideas rather than mere Nazi symbolism


Even for Elon, this isn't even in the top of the list of evidence that Elon is Nazi coded. Remember when he replied to a tweet that says Jews control media and banks with the word "interesting"?

Id pet this more in the bucket of Elon "trolling" because he is very childlike.

I looked into that, and it looks like it was only BMW UK.

Pretty sure that a social media employee in the UK will be looking for a new job soon. There is a history of the person who manages that account having made extremely woke posts and tweets.

 

I looked at their X feed as well - they barely post once a month. That level of frequency makes no sense and should be the driving reason to close the channel.

I think more likely is that they realized it's dumb to post at all to their twitter account with 100k followers and better to focus on Instagram where their 40 million loyalists actually want to consume social content from BMW. Experiential / visual brands don't really belong on twitter.

 

Ultimately that is the joke. Instagram is for the dumb people on the internet as is TikTok. Nothing wrong with hanging out with the normies and checking out what they are into. That pretty much summons up BMW drivers. No imagination and live in their own little world. X is the last place BMW wants to be. They dont want to talk about their over price products that have a high failure rate.

 

I feel like X has audi tt fwd biased hair dresser energy. The type of people who like new bmws because of their luxury features rather than their rwd holligan roots. People who buy expensive cars for status symbols rather than having a mechanical appreciation for them.

 

I don't think many auto brands would be on X with a massive following, except Tesla. Twitter is more about live info and niche affinity groups (like basketball fandom). But given the typical BMW owner is going to be heavily into design and such - instagram makes more sense.

The other issue is that it's odd to have a UK twitter account for BMW - usually not good to fracture your audience by geography like that unless your brand is very different by market. So maybe they are just consolidating.

If that's his sense of humor, I really wouldn't put it past him to have done the "Nazi salute" gesture in place of "my heart goes out to you" as a joke to troll lefties who accuse him of being in bed with Nazis.
