I don't but others are showing it. SF is just joining the other 30 gov'ts that are going after them as well. Yet reason has only decided to write about it when SF took action. Tells you a lot.

 

Right, the action is bandaid, though those sites are definitely tools for implicit collusion where larger well moneyed tenants can influence the direction of the local market.

Some PE firms in Nashville and Atlanta are starting to liquidate big bets they leveraged during 2021 (thanks Powell) by buying up entire neighborhoods and making them for rent only. The subsequent runup allowed them to double or triple rent costs and house prices, which then made the algorithm reprice with those distortions...uhh catalysts.

Now that the remote workforce has retrenched and people's own wallets haven't matched rent inflation, a lot of these corporate shitbags are sitting with empty unrented homes still waiting to make more than a half of the investments they dumped in a few years ago.

In the meantime Trump is threatening to shut down late night comedians if he’s back in power.
