Yes, that's why I'm asking if Paredes would be available in a trade or not. If Altuve is at 2B then that means Paredes would be LF. I would rather not experiment and just trade him for a OF.
Then you'd need a LF *and* a RF ...and maybe a CF too? and a 3B, and a 2B... There's a few holes to fill.
I said it a few weeks ago. Just pull the trigger and figure it out there have been plenty of atrocious defensive players man left field at Minute Maid. Let them rotate through it and see who sticks best. If Altuve wants to do it, have at it. be grateful we even have that option because of our home field.
I doubt Detroit would offer Bregs more than Houston. He profiles terribly in their home ballpark. He would turn into a 15 homer guy. Also, I’m not sure Bregs would go there. After already banking over $100MM, he can be a little choosy and Detroit as a city sucks. Also, I could see him not wanting to reignite the 2017 scandal by teaming with Hinch.
All Detroit caveats as before duly noted... 20HR 402B Bregman is the best Bregman...or 15/45 if that's what it takes to turn popup Bregman into linedrive Bregman
Moving Pena off of SS is the worst idea I have heard. At any other position, Jeremy is a AAAA player. Absolutely no benefit to moving him. The season is 162 games long, nobody plays everyday, and injuries are very common. Since 2021: 1b-Walker has averaged 141 games 2b-Altuve has averaged 133 games 3b-Bregman has averaged 138 games Dh-Alvarez has averaged 135 games That's an average of 101 games missed between them without even considering LF. Play Alvarez 40 games in LF andbthats 141 games for Paredes between 4 positions. There is plenty of playing time available
The salsa was never good. But I hear he and Keuchel may start a poke restaurant franchise in Arizona.
Every 13 games 1b) Walker 12, Paredes 1 2b) Altuve 9, Paredes 4 3b) Bregman 12, Paredes 1 LF) Alvarez 4, Paredes 3, other 6 DH) Alvarez 8, Altuve 2, Paredes 3 Walker, Bregman, Alvarez, Paredes = 12 games Altuve = 11 games
Craig Biggio isn’t one of the ten best athletes in MLB history. As for Paredes - he would play left field if Bregman or Arenado are in Houston.
Trade Caratini to save $5.2M Trade Pressly + $3M to save $10.2M Trade Montero + prospect + $3.5M to save $8M Trade Chas to save $2.6M Sign Bregman. The problem w/ trading Dubon is that you need him as a backup for SS. Unless they think Bregman or Paredes can play there if Pena gets hurt or needs a day off. That would be preferable, but I'm not convinced.
Wow, so it seems Bregman may be pushing to get his agent to prioritize a deal with Houston…. Now the question is can the Astros free enough money to make it happen? Because the Astros would be weary to add more salary to the current salary. I think it’s a long shot, but with two willing and motivated parties, anything is possible. Moving Altuve to LF appears what they would do to sort out the lineup. But at 5’5” it would be interesting to see. But I think it would be worth a shot!
