Adams is big and strong AF. Sengun is on the smaller side for screens. He tries though. The main issue with Adams before is his conditioning and his lane agility. Teams used to target him on D cuz he was really slow and he looked like he ran out of gas after 10 mins. But now I see him recovering a lot and with him and Sengun we can have elite C play for 48 mins.
I wish I knew what Adams and his agent expect with regard to role, yrs and money going forward. I do think he brings a lot as a backup center and wouldn’t mind extending him, but he has some gaps too. He’s not a switchy rim protector which I know Ime wants. Wonder if the Rob Williams rumors are any indication of Adams moving on this offseason.
Adams is easily the unsung hero for this Rockets team. He is an ANCHOR. He keeps the second unit grounded. He is there to make sure all rebounds are HIS and no one elses. He is a huge addition to his team. The only thing is his age, injury history, and the fact he gets winded quick. Other than that, he is a MAIN COG on the 2nd team. We would not be as good without him.
If we could just convince other teams to play their backups 36 minutes too we'd really be in business
I was wrong as well, he is a major asset. I still don't like his 3-point line closeouts, but he makes up for it. Steven's absolute biggest strength, is the respect he gets from the refs. He can bully as much as he wants, and nobody is allowed to push back.
I prefer Adams to Robert Williams. Adams is big, strong and very physical. Last year was his first real major injury, he always played 50+ games for his career. Williams oth, I think if someone hits him hard he will be out for 2 months. For people who are saying he is on a tanking team thats why he isn playing, what about last year when he only played in 6 games? Or the year before when he only played 36 games? He has only 2 seasons where he has been semi healthy, and in those 2 he still got injured as he only played 52 and 61 games. Celtics took a chance on Porzingis who is also injury prone, but they gave up on Williams. That should tell you something. Its a joke we even having this conversation. Dude spends more time injured than playing.
I agree with almost everything you have said here and I'm on a very similar diet .... I call it the caveman diet. Protein - lean meats (no ground beef or pork), all the vege's I can eat and a limited amount of fruit & healthy fats from avocado and other sources. No pasta No bread No Potatoes Very little rice. I'm in the gym 3hrs+ daily for the last 7-8 years. I'm 6'3" ..... when I started I was ~255, now I'm between 195-205 and roughly 11-12% body fat ..... did I mention I'm almost 60? The only disagreement I have is blaming the lobby - sure those bastards want to make profit but the problem has been in our diets going back eons and these carb heavy foods are easily accessed pretty much year round, they are all easily stored for later use - unlike those seasonal vege's and fruits. Rice goes back ~14,000 years or more. Bread / pasta (processed grains) as far back as 30,000 years. Potatoes which were the real game changer ~1540 in Europe? earlier in South America / Peru - just look at the difference in average height then and now .... that was mostly due to the massive influx of calories the potato provides. Even into modern times, and in my lifetime (probably exactly why I got fat), If you were eating steak and potatoes, you were living the high life. Think of how many times a week most eat all of these carb loaded foods .... and then what we put on them to make them taste good / better. Point is, we were already eating the easy things that weren't necessarily healthy, just carb dense .... long before any lobbyist came along looking to keep us fat. It's no wonder today why / how we have so any that are diabetic today.
Adams was once again crucial tonight. You can have him come in to spell Alpi, and the opponents just keep getting beaten up. Awesome guy. Alpi/Stevo >>>>>> Mobley/Allen tonight
I may have slightly overstated it? He definitely rounded into shape the first half of the season. He's been awesome lately. Jock still isn't worried lol them paychecks cashing like a mug.
Always really love watching/listening to Steven Adams talk basketball. Insightful, articulate, and he makes even the most cookie-cutter questions worth it because he's so intelligent. I wish more basketball commentators were like him
