Those of us pointing this out do so because MAGA wants to have its cake and eat it, too. The reality is that you cannot deport a huge pool of artificially cheap labor in a service-based economy and expect prices to come down. The prices you hate today at the grocery store and restaurants have the cost of illegal labor baked into them. I'm ok with somebody saying we should deport all illegal immigrants if they acknowledge the inflationary impact it would have on daily life. That's a position that should be debated in public. But, so far, that isn't happening.

So our rhetoric and discourse of illegal immigrants especially from the maga crowd needs to a complete 180 reverse in course because they hate illegal immigration because they think illegal immigrants are evil rather than being exploited slave labor. Yet so far. Trying to convert their feelings of illegal immigrants from a group of vile creatures who raped white women to a class of exploited labor is a giant leap in change in perspective that requires probably years of deradicalization. I condemn any Americans who have directly taken advantage of these people as cheap labor. Sure it will affect prices on a lot of goods and services but that is fine with me. I will not mind paying more at the grocery store , for putting a new roof on my house, etc..... I have never paid anyone to do yard work or to clean our house but I know the price for those services will go up too. I am well aware I as well as everyone else has indirectly benefitted from the cheap labor in the form of cheaper groceries, etc... but that does not make it right. That being said, if you do not think having an open border causes security issues then I do not know what to say. Besides the main reason the left wants open borders is to turn these people into Democrat voters. To allow anyone who came here illegally and to be made a citizen is a slap in the face to every single person who did it the legal way which I assume may very well include your parents.

For some reason I believe some vital context is missing here because it's already illegal to rape last time I checked. A person raping should be prosecuted and be in prison after conviction regardless of immigration status.

I will tell you how illegal immigration changed my life. When I started at my first restaurant, everything I learned was from Tony Gonzales. Not that one. He taught me how to make a professional brown roux for gumbo. He taught me how to de-head peel and de-vein shrimp without getting stabbed by the horn. Taught me how to take down a tenderloin in less than 3 minutes. Chain and all. Taught me to always wear gloves when stuffing jalapenos with crab meat, so you don't burn your wang when you take a waz. Probably the most important of all listed above. Guess what Culinary Management has provided a pretty good life for me and my family, and TONE was a big part of pushing me that direction I have said many times before Texas would not exist without immigrants legal and illegal. Now there might be much in the way of exploitation of wages but ask yourself. Who's hanging that sheetrock, who's mowing your neighbor's lawn, who is cooking that amazing chicken fried steak. I also think that Republicans have seen that immigrants in our country especially Latinos a few generations down the road go Red.
