He literally just won player of the week. It's not a bad thing that Udoka changes offensive strategies game-to-game based on matchups...
Not only that, but using big man numbers against a guard and then fist pumping over .3 more steals per game? Weird. Its not like everyone cant see WHO is being hunted by the offense or anything.
When Jalen starts a game jacking up long bricks its more than likely going to be a tough game for him. He's at his best when he attacks the defense, gets out in transition, gets some free throws and finds his rhythm. He gets beat to sht going to the rim, but he has to stay aggressive and push that aspect. Its the only way he will develop the reputation necessary to get the calls. Stone and Udoka need to start making some noise about the bad whistles. I wonder how much size Jalen will be able to pack on. He's only added 6lbs in 4 years. If he ever reaches 190 I'd be surprised.
lol yes he does average 1 a game, which is pretty decent. Better than Marcus Smart, etc. What stats are you looking at exactly?
Yeah, it's obvious now. When Jalen is hot, Fred takes a back seat. His shot attempts were in single digits. When Jalen is cold, he takes over. When both of them are cold, we lose most of the times.
He's played 43 games and has 41 total steals.. I dunno why bball reference shows 1 because it doesn't math.
He’ll say something crazier and stupider in a week. The biggest Sengun hater on the board by a wide margin.
Jalen is just hot and cold, we have a team that can still win when he goes cold. his contract is right sized. so, I am ok with it all. DD
He has 0.95348 (and even more decimal places after that which I won't list) steals per game, which Basketball Reference rounds to the nearest tenth which is indeed 1.0. In math terms, 1.0 just means it's a number > .95 and < 1.05. Using a more real world analogy, I'm 5'6 and roughly 3/4, so I call myself 5'7.
Jalen shouldn't be relying on being hot in the first half. He needs a more reliable way to get going. Drives, passes, free throws. Motivate the team, trust whoever they're leaving open if he's guarded so tightly. Taking limited shots is better than forcing shots sometimes. In this game especially they were not going to let Amen and Green drive easily and refs weren't calling anything. So for Green if your shot is off and the paint is this packed, you need to become very selective with drives and focus on defense+assists to make an impact. Jumpers only when stationary and wide open. Safe passes only. Trust your teammates. Anyway have to live with these sometimes, he was due a couple of bad games. Was killing it for 15-20 games before that. Normal for a star.
DD He has been BALLING since Thanksgiving! How is one bad game since then inconsistent? You know how long ago that's been? I'm sure you had several turkeys, gumbo, lamb chops, prime rib, etc since his last bad game
He had another 8 game hot streak and has been bad in the 2 games since then... let's not be dishonest and try to pretend he was good for longer than he was like people tried to do last year with that 8 game hot streak. Can't we just appreciate the truth and hope another hour streak starts soon rather than being dishonest?
We really, really need to trade for another backcourt player at the deadline, IMO. Fred or Jalen goes down and we're, what? Playing Aaron freaking Holiday 30mpg? Reed Sheppard has to play real minutes on a playoff team? (Kid is not ready for that.) Amen's already damn near averaging 40mpg with Jalen and Fred both healthy. This is why I really want us to pick up Lonzo Ball, Jose Alvarado, Ayo Dosunmu. Can be a point guard or a combo guard, but somebody who can play floor general better than Holiday and can give us somebody else who is playoff rotation caliber in the backcourt. Our lack of backcourt depth feels like a ticking time bomb right now, and it would also be fantastic to have a third guy for those nights when Fred and Jalen are both cold.
Well, Fred will be off the book after this season if his usefulness is shrinking too much. I suspect that they are watching how Jalen (as well and Amen and Reed) develops before deciding what to do with Fred.
Fred should make the transition to being the first PG off the pine as his age will be going downhill. Tons of good bench guards that can still make 14+ million like Malik Monk.
Alvarado would be perfect for this team but there's no way of feasibly getting him from NOP and he isn't worth any FRPs. Maybe Tate/Holiday and a few seconds.
