He had 1 good stop on Garland late in the game but as a whole his defense today was god awful. He was lazy boxing, not chasing loose balls, leaving guys wide open. He's seemed disinterested last two games
Clutchfans, Who jinxed Jalen again? I haven’t been visiting the forum much… was there another Jalen Green Chapter? Or another Apology Declaration that we had to sign and notarize?
What is up with this guy? Its not a lack in effort.. because he does play good defense. But its like his offense prowess just takes on the characteristics of a turtle and goes dormant. A star doesn't do that. They bring it every single night. His leash is admittedly getting smaller and smaller. He was looking like a person you can build around just a week ago... but this. Here is to hoping he realizes his potential soon and taps in.
The honestly bad games he's had were ugly enough to skew your opinion. He played well in many of those "absolutely suck" first 33 games you're referring to. https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/greenja05/gamelog/2025 That said, he sucked about 80% of the game tonight.
Every one has his ups and downs - but Jalen seems to be pretty extreme in that regard. Still, if it is only a couple of games, I can live with that - it is already encouraging, that he had 2 really good stretches over a lot of games before the month of February... that's progress. He needs a bounce back game soon...
The two life saving 3s FVV made in the final quarter is the ones Jalen should take and make in the ideal scenario. FVV had no choice but to take the responsibilities at a night when Jalen is off. Luckily, the ball goes in. Many of you blame FVV's choice of shooting and inefficiency, but trust me, if Jalen can be consistent on offense and finally grows to be the one we want him to be, FVV will definitely be much more efficient.
lol Jalen's defense has been worse than Sengun's basically for their whole career. He's improved a lot as a man defender but he's always lost as a team defender. Rarely helps, misses assignments, doesn't pick up in transition, doesn't box out. Literally he is back to being awful defensively last two games Pistons and Cavs hunted Jalen and wanted that matchup. Sengun knows his role and plays it well and is at least is in good position he has deficiencies cuz of his height but makes up for a lot of it with his brains. A guy with Jalen's athleticism in our defensive scheme should be getting at least 2 plus steals a game just by playing smart. He should be able to read the play and step in for steals but he's never in the right place to help.
He's so ****ing unpredictable and inconsistent. At least his defense has improved to help make up for it some.
lol this is the craziest take you've ever had. Jalen is by far the lowest IQ on defense. Sengun is usually in the right spot and tries to help he is limited athletically but to say he has low IQ on defense is ridiculous. All he has going for him on defense is his IQ and quick hands. he literally outperforms Jalen in every defensive metric. Boxout, blocks, rebounds, heck even steals which is a joke. Any advanced stat you want to use DBPM, DWS. Literally everything says the teams has better defense when Jalen sits because Jalen's team defense is absolutely the worst.
A lot of "old Jalen" last night. He wasn't getting to the rim nearly as much as he normally does and then settled for 3s and some bad long 2s. Luckily he gets another shot at Cleveland on Saturday. @CLE @BOSTON @ATL @MEM are some big games coming up for him.
i'm full on copium with this take but he has shot ice cold since he hurt his shooting hand... but he seems to take pride in his iron-man streaks so sitting out isn't up his wheelhouse. just have to play through it and figure out other ways to score in the meantime.
if that's what you wanna take from my post sure. He doesn't even average 1 a game. He averages less steals than Sengun. Why is that? He's suppose to have elite athleticism... As an example just in the few minutes that Reed Sheppard has played he had more steals than Jalen for most of the season until he stopped playing. It's all about being in the right spot.
Hes got to learn how to handle the zone. I will say, the refs where allowing a very physical game and Jalen missed nearly every shot he took driving to the rim. I wish he got more calls, but he has to continue learning how to play through contact. Hes gotten better but still needs more strength.
