Sure, if it were only spot on the line. We need damn near the entire line. You cant draft that to plug and play. Spend on FAs for the line and draft a wr.
Who is this dylan guy? Is he just throwing it out because he considered retiring and hoping it sticks?
They dont have much money left to spend. They shot their wad last year. However they could start structuring contracts like the Eagles do. Low base and the high numbers come at he end of the contract. Just depends on how much improvement Scruggs/Patterson/Fisher can make with a new OL coach.
Likely do some restructures; Tunsil and Howard. Need to cut Mason and Kenyon Green and sign two other guards. Will be interesting to see what Diggs gets in FA.
I need some more explanation on how we lose 17mil if we don't sign diggs. Like might as well give him 20 mil if we are going to basically lose that amount if he goes somewhere else? Like if he signs for 15 mil in chicago, does he get 32 mil total with 17 from us? or do we pay his entire salary to chicago? Doesn't make sense how we "did him a solid getting him out of a 3 year contract" only to have it bite us in the ass when he leaves?
Void years https://overthecap.com/player/stefon-diggs/3994 If he re-signs we can put that void year $$$ in his contract. If he leaves, we still gotta pay it
So does that mean some team can pay him like 5 mil and yet he'll make 23mil? Why would anyone do void years? It makes it so easy for another team to get him cheap while he loses nothing? I thought we were doing him a solid making his contract 1 year instead of 3, and now we get effed for it?! Should have just kept him for 3 years 15 mil per or whatever it was.
The void years only impact the current team cap wise... I think he already got the $$$ from the Texans. It just impacts our cap #. It lowered our cap hit for several years. So it was a win - win. He got his $$$ and we spread the hit out over several years. Click on the history tab of the link I sent. It shows the cash pay out.
