Moved to Dallas area, sort of, and it's funny to me how many people are like "OH THE TRAFFIC IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN HOUSTON". The lowest of bars, congrats. The traffic here sucks donkey butts too. Also, there's 2 or 3 of the deadliest roads in America in Dallas. I-45 connecting from Houston to Dallas is Thunderdome.
Perception. They’re too busy looking at themselves in the mirror or selfie cam to notice how terrible the driving is because all of the other drivers are also looking at themselves in the mirror or selfie cam.
The first alert I received on the neighborhood scout app was “person of interest with flamethrower active on 290”.
Not the least bit surprised, KC. While visiting Houston, I don't honk or even raise a one finger salute (which I might do anywhere else) to any of the bast**ds that inevitably come too close to killing me while on the city's freeways. Far too many have a loaded pistol in their glovebox. Fools, in amazing numbers, change lanes without looking while they are mindlessly going 25mph+ over the speed limit. Doesn't matter how much traffic there is. Hey, it's Houston! As a Houston native with family and friends still living in my hometown, all I can say to all those wonderful folks is, "You're still here?" Damn glad I've lived in Austin the last 45 years. Yes, it's changed tremendously since I started coming here in the late '60's. Heck, the skyline seems to have a new high-rise along Lady Bird Lake every few days. It's crazy. Still digging the vibe here.
Dallas traffic sucks! It did not used to be as bad but it's gotten noticeable worse the last few years. I'd flip my list the opposite way for people that help others on the roadway. Houston and Atlanta drivers will help you out, Dallas drivers will slow down but keep going, SoCal drivers will speed past you.
