What are they saying about Sengun?
NBA.COM: "Sengun inching closer to top 5 MVP ladder"

Just to be in the conversation at 22 from playing in the Turkey rec leagues to the NBA is quite amazing.
I wonder how things will change with his national team. Get them all Cuban cigars? Buy them a new team bus? (he is like jordan reference)

4th best defense now. Somehow we keep sliding in defensive ranks over the last week and a half or so….

Time to change that free throw ritual.

I liked most of his game tonight, with the exception of that fat boy close out on the three point line. That isn’t a natural physical disadvantage, that’s laziness.

If I’m Udoka I pull his ass for that bullshit. Be f’ing ready to play. We’ve seen Alperen defend when he is locked in. Keep the foot firmly in his ass.

Been saying it all year. Jabari was playing great defense. Dillon is playing good defense. Jabari should take Dillon's place in the starting line-up and our defense will go back to elite and as long as FVV is off the ball or off the team our offense will continue to get better.

I’d love to see you tell this to Udoka personally, just to see how he’d handle such silliness.

He'll come around. He's already taken him off the ball. He is our best trade chip, because of his expiring contract this year or next.

Fred is not bad, his contract should be re-structured to a medium deal and his role should be reduced to play 26 ppg.

Again, he is not bad in a newer role.

But I admit Udoka will always be tempted to overplay him due to a little bromance.

It's pretty simple, we're overstocked with defenders on the wing so losing Jabari at the 4/5 is certainly having an impact. Brooks can't do what Jabari can do.

Further we had Tari out till the last 2 games and FVV out for one. Top 10 defense is championship calibre. If we can maintain a top 5 with injuries, that's as elite as it gets.

Honestly they're just tired AF which results in slightly more errors. They have been the hardest working team in the NBA this season bar none. I think we can expect them to bounce back pretty easily, that kind of character doesn't just disappear.

Fred took himself off the ball because JG decide to make some open shots.

JG owes a damn lot to Fred for being the training wheels he desperately needed, and still needs.

Houston fans not appreciating Fred is wild ass ****.

    Defense so rough,
he posted a 94 defensive rating.

Shots missed while guarding opponent, rebounds, steals, blocks all go into the calculation. He was the best defender the previous game too. Some of you just watch with bias eyes.
For example, Fox gets by his man, Alpi leaves Sabonis to challenge and forces the miss. Sengun ends up near the baseline. Sabonis picks it up and dunks it. "Bad defense" -the usuals- That was great defense.
Another example: missed rotations on the threes happens a ton when you switch as much as we do.

But Sengun no longer hesitates when contesting a three on a missed rotation. It used to be like F' it that's not my man. It's a huge improvement granted they do seem to all go in when he runs out.
In a year or two, he will be anticipating where those open threes happen before the sot is taken.
Then there will be matchups where he will lose on the defensive end because they're 28 year old HOF'ers. Experience is kind of a big deal.

The truly bad defense happens when his energy is low but Aquaman is there to pick him up. Like that's the purpose of a team.

It's eye opening that Ime is allowing him orchestrate some of the defensive assignments lately.
Frustrated Brooks to Sengun after picking up a foul: " where do you want me to go? This way? You said that way."

Love Alpi but this thing where he’s bringing the ball up the court - like he did on at least 5 occasions last night - and where he spins in to the lane with an intent to pass right at the end of the spin is bad basketball.

In the playoffs that type of offense will be laughed off the court amid turnovers, offensive fouls and inefficiency. I have no idea what IME is thinking on those.

Pretty great to be able to criticize our multiple 21-22 year old stars after huge stat lines and road W’s.

Yeah he does that way too often. Pass to a guard then run full speed to the paint to establish a good position early will be a much better option imo

Sengun's impact is beyond stats, thats why he is the only Rockets player in MVP Ladder-right now 8, allstar candidate and high probably when he retires he will be hall of fame.
He does not need to score 40 points a game, his court vision, his passing opens all games of Houston Rockets.
He has Jokic lite effect on Houston , Jalen can be 1A player in the future, but it is Alpi who will dictate the faith of Rockets. Jalen will never average double doubles easily, he is score oriented, but Sengun points, rebounds, asists, he may easily end his career with tripple doubles in NBA history...
Alpi and Jalen will be great duo...

Short time ago, l was not optimistic about Jalen, but his leap is massive and deserves recognition,l want these two at least play conference finals together...
Jalen started to learn how to play high iq basketball and become.consistent.
Alpi and Jalen two man game will be huge...
