I did some research and the stats appear to match with my eye test. Sengun’s shooting within 0-3 feet from the basket is atrocious. He’s ranked second to last among starting centers. Call me a hater if you want but his contract is about to be one of the worst in the NBA. I just don’t think you can win with someone who can’t finish, can’t shoot and can’t defend being the foca point of your offense. I have said from day 1 Jalen Green is the only rocket that has a chance to reach stardom.

FG% within 0-3 feet among starting centers

    8. Lopez (Milwaukee) - .769
    9. Davis (LA Lakers) -.759
    10. Porzingis (Boston) - .744
    11. Turner (Indiana) - .741
    12. Claxton (Brooklyn) - .740
    13. Duren (Detroit) - .740
    14. Bitadze (Orlando) - .730
    15. Sarr (Washington) - .730
    16. Gobert (Utah) - .720
    17. Jackson-Davis (Golden State) - .711
    18. Sabonis (Sacramento) - .711

yeah Sengun is bad at the rim this year but just for kicks can you include the FGA within 0-3 on your list?

Kinda a funny stat, the guy who's #1 is the worst player on list and most of the best players (including the best player on earth) are 25-29

It’s a problem, Jackson Gatlin said it was due to putting on muscle in the offseason.

I used to hoop in my younger days and got into weight lifting. I can confirm. It did mess with my touch around the hoop but weirdly made me a better shooter from the free throw line to the 3.

Sengun just needs to put as many reps up as possible from under the hoop. There is a training exercise just for this. Right hand lay up, grab the rebound, left hand lay up. And keep doing alternating layups over and over again.

helped me. Unfortunately I don’t have time for that anymore but Sengun should

That is the thing, nobody wants to be in Ayton's skin other than cashing on his contract......

Looking at the members on this list it mostly seems being lower equates to a generally speaking better player. Even the 3 time MVP is bottom 5 as well. Looks like another L for OP, his collection of Ls keeps growing.

Sometimes I'm just watching gamecast and I will see Sengun missed layup three times after two offensive rebounds. Yeah, he needs to work with dream again about finishing under the basket.

You looked at this list, saw Embiid, Towns and Jokic in the bottom 6, and thought this was a good post? Truly moronic.

Almost as moronic as saying his contract will be one of the worst in the NBA.

He'll eventually pick it up. I'm not worried about him getting easy buckets

His free throws however, he needs to work on definitely

It doesn't matter where a player scores from as long as they score. Do the same list with TS%. It's much more significant and enlightening.

It is something he needs to fix for sure but I am not too worried about it since it has never been a problem before. I think it is likely do to many things, putting on muscle, expending much more energy on defense, and also he attracts more attention when he gets the ball down low. He will adjust. As all the Jalen only fans like to point out about Jalen, Sengun is also only 22 and is a few months younger than Jalen.

As a Jalen stan rest assured I am not worried about his current slump inside the paint. That has always been his strong suit. He hasn't magically lost it. It'll come back.

i'm more concerned with his 3-ball seemingly getting worse. this is one of the reasons i didn't love changing Sengun into a "score-first" player. I think his facilitating abilities are fantastic and underutilized.

would love to see him more as a 16-10-7 guy versus a 20-10-4 guy

He does lead the league in asking for reviews. That look and finger spin is elite.

Sengun can certainly do better finishing near the rim.

That doesn't change the fact that the OP Green take ("the only rocket that has a chance to reach stardom") is just moronic.
