He can score double digit qtr anytime he wants - what really kills him is playing whole 1st qtr then Ime sits him til 6-7min remaining in 2nd and then plays him whole 3rd and brings him back with 6-7 min in 4th I would rather if he hot, you play him til he ask to come out in 2nd and then you stagger his rest in 3rd and 4th … long as he continues to drop 10+ in 1st qtr… I don’t see his streak of 20+ games ending anytime soon
I actually would like to see Jalen go into Kobe mode - as in I’m going to try to get 60 or 80 tonight, and go full on ball hog, unstoppable tour. My question about Jalen is whether he has that ego/mentality between the ears that the superstars have. He isn’t born with that killer instinct, at least it doesn’t seem to be the case with him. He doesn’t carry himself with the belief (correct or delusional) that he is or will be the best player on the floor. But, I think he can have a Neo/Matrix development where he grows into his powers as he develops belief. It is more rare for stars to develop in this way, but perhaps it is possible.
I remember when I was clowned a couple weeks ago when I said all Jalen needs to do is hit one more 3 and get one extra foul called... impossible and a massive ask was the rebuttal. now I never imagined him shooting 50/40/90... that is absolutely bonkers.
Green has a decent track record of yapping at current star players and backing it up right after. DeRozan, Beal, Booker, Ja, Russ etc. dude mouths off a lot even when down. I respect that from him. He isn't a front runner like Booker.
Wrong team and time for that type of mentality. This team right now is about winning. How many times have we heard Coach Udoka talk about moving the ball or not letting the ball get sticky. I don't think for a second that he would tolerate any 'ball hogging' no matter how hot you think you are (see Cam being sent to the G-League). There will be plenty of time for Jalen to cement his legacy as a phenomenal scorer in this league (he's only 22) right now I am trusting in Coaches words when he first came here regarding turning Jalen into a better and more consistent all-around player. Take the shots the defense gives you and move the ball when the read is there... winning plays first and everything else is gravy.
I watched the game I’m fully aware - his normal rest is the start of 2nd til the 6-7 mark… that’s why I said when he’s got Ime needs to ride him longer cause no matter what that’s his rest time He picked up his 3rd so he sit right back down about 5min left in 2nd vs Kings
Amen being in the dunker spot and his natural cutting ability (and transition demon ability) has put teams in a bind. You could always throw doubles at Jalen before and he'd either turn it over or he could kick it out to Sengun (he's admittedly gotten MUCH better at recognizing traps and passing out of them). If he passes out of the trap you have a 4 on 3 with Sengun at the top of the key. He then rumbles to the rim which will attract a defender either away from a cutting Amen or ideally a wide open Jabari/FVV for 3. Once Reed and Jabari get consistent then teams are truly ****ed. Especially with Reed. Jalen has been unconscious from 3 over this stretch which is unsustainable. He's at 50% on 36/72 from 3 which is looney tunes. I want to see what he does in games where his 3 isn't falling. I really really want to see what this team looks like with Jabari in place of Dillon and next year with Reed in place of Fred.
In Jalen’s case I feel like it was definitely Ignite that stunted his growth. I don’t think a single Ignite prospect has had a smooth go of it in their first few seasons
This is the progress on efficiency I've been waiting to see from him. 43.4% / 35.7% shooting. Much-improved defense. Keep that up and he's a top 5 shooting guard in the league at age 22 (assuming you consider Brown a SF, which I do). I hope this is a true breakout and not another mirage. I'm beginning to believe it just might be.
So here's what it took to beat us when Green, Amen and Sengun had relatively good games against the Kings: - Starting PG and PF out - 2nd night of a back to back - On the road - Kings one of the hottest teams in the NBA at the moment We've come a long way.
No man, would have loved to have FVV or Jabari over Brooks against the Kings. We would have limited their offense a little better with FVV guarding Monk or Jabari helping guard their PF/C's. Against them we could have even gone some minutes with Jabari at C against Sabonis, Green and Amen would have torched them.
