Here are my thoughts personally on DEI. I have 56 staff member that report to me directly. a very diverse workforce. The Culinary arts have always been that way. I have blacks, whites, gays, Hattian immigrants, Pakastani immigrants and I can keep going. But there is that old guard stuck in the past that are members of the good ol boys club. So, as a result of those good ol boys I have spent countless hours on webinars, diversity training, and conferences about all things DEI. For me it's a time suck, and telling someone who is already hiring and firing without any thought of a specific group is kind of insulting. I will equate it to my bathroom at work. We used to have paper towels to dry our hands after washing them. But some arseholes kept flushing them down the toilets and they backed up. So not we have some less than stellar air dryer that does jack squat for drying, again because of a few bad folks. So even though 95% of the folks never flushed a paper towel, we all pay the price. I don't need official documentation of me attending classes for hiring practices that I have always espoused to without thought. I'm just a dude in the service industry trying to keep staffing levels where they were before the VID. And that my friends is not easy. And if I don't hire any and all that come through the door, I will be the one making your dinner selection. And I'm waaaaaay past all of that.
Most of these classes are for liability purposes from the perspective of the company. Understand that any ideological "woke" leftist always knows a corporation doing these things has nothing to do with sincerity in their beliefs in diversity. If these classes help their bottom line, they'll make employees take them. If it doesn't, they will stop. The new administration signals to these corporations that there type of classes won't help their bottom line anymore.
A lot of you conservatives really waste a lot of time on this ****. It's why you're suspected bots or paid trolls. No one should be able to wallow in vitriol and stupidity all waking hours. I support the original idea of DEI. What is not to love about diversity, equity and inclusion? America is a melting pot and a shining example of DEI.
