The point is that one is a contribution for someone that is IN office and one is for someone that hasn't been in office for years. I don't think that Bezos is really "buying" anyone...... I do question whether someone like Bezos should be able to donate that kind of money to anyone's inauguration (regardless of party)... but whatever. It is smart business by Bezos, he can lose 100 million in his couch cushions and not know it.... and at worst it will be a good will gesture.

Zuckerberg said in 2021 that the "greatest risk" facing Meta was the antitrust lawsuit that the government filed against them which is due to go to trial in April.
