Id have to see where Eden was standing prior to takeoff but that one felt like a bit of a reputation/home court call honestly.

 

When he really got it going, Ime switched Amen on him and poof, nothing. Same with Ja, although JA hit some circus shots with Amen on him. We do miss Jabari's defense and, of course, Tari's.

 

I would be shocked.

 

That was an acceptable win... I guess.

 

Nah... you must have been seeing things. Jalen doesn't have that "DAWG" in him. He plays like a girl... ...

Some of the stuff that has been said about this kid just is not ageing very well this year. Even when he wasn't scoring he has been much tougher on defense. Guess all he really needed was that structure and accountability he (and some others) were asking for.

 

You know what's even more crazy IMO:

Remember last year when we couldn't figure out why the Rockets home vs road record was so different (27-14 at home, 14-27 on the road). That may be one of the biggest disparities ever.

This year they are 14-6, 12-6 and the roster is barely different from last year.

Ime would play him 48 minutes if he could for defense alone even if he shot 0% from 3

(As it is he's the only reliable volume shooter currently playing more than 20 minutes)

This is absolutely correct. Even Ime can't be stubborn enough to send Amen back to the bench. He is a superstar in the making. He and Jalen just put the team on their back in that 4th quarter. I do think we miss Jabari's defense. When he's back he will probably come off the bench, but he should just take Diliion's spot if nothing else than for the rebounding. Imagine our rebounding with Sengun, Amen, and Jabari starting. 3 guys that could average over 10.

 

Sengun putting the team on his shoulders tonight, great win....

 

No way. Jabari has shown too much promise this season and DB is vital to the identity of this team. He's also indispensable with both Jabari and Tari sitting on the shelf.

 

Players only meeting time but because they really like each other and just want to chill...

 

But amen is better defender than Dillon. If Ime likes Dillon so much he should love Amen more.

 

We can beat most teams in this league. Just gotta get to that next level and get over the hump against BOS, OKC, MIL, MIA.

 

Would be wild if we reach the WCF this year and somehow slip into the finals. I think it’s possible.

 

It seems Taylor Belichick stayed in Memphis and Taylor Jenkins did the presser tonight.

 

Amen’s a scary dude. Like a lockdown corner in football.

 

They're different styles of defender but anyway Dillon is still the best volume 3 point shooter on the team - that's just a fact.

Dillon Brooks is probably one of the most valuable pure role players in the entire NBA - he fits with any lineup, any team, any style - has nothing to do with Amen Thompson.

He is not blocking Amen Thompson from playing at all. There's no situation in which you have to much of an elite 5 position wing defender who shoots 37.5% from 3.

 

I said at the beginning of the year that Thompson is a hybrid of Magic and Rodman. The pushing every rebound is the Magic, a poor man's version with his loose handles.
