Jalen Green is so back. I can't shake this feeling this is just a case of deja vu. Like, three years in a row's worth of deja vu. I have given Green his props lately because he has been playing much better. I'm going to need him to do this the entire rest of the season to be confident he's figured it out.
I think Ime figured it out for him. Finally, he is handing over the reins to Jalen, Sengun, and Amen. We might not have had as good of a record last year, but would have a better record this year if he had taken the training wheels off sooner. Maybe it was planned so Jalen would concentrate on defense. I don't know what the excuse was for waiting so long on Amen.
At this point I will give him another year and then I would say he is just a great microwave scorer with improved defensive play. Plays 2-3 months out of 6.... November is my lucky month and he managed to average 16 ppg in that one.
Nobody hates Jalen, but nobody has right to label Green as this teams prime player- he did not show that consistency yet enough. He is in the right way, but this team has one superstar, one player in MVP Ladder and one player in allstar list-as deserved. I expect and every intelligent ,clever basketball fans know and wish Jalen to be a great Robin to Batman Sengun. Jalen has to learn how to play offball to jump to that star level, not yet. But positive signs are coming. The difference between competent and ignorant fans is: ignorant fans value raw athleticism to proper basketball, while the real fans know the real basketball, believe in basketball iq. Jalen has to increase his basketball iq.
You seem like you hate Jalen. Also you seem like a person who wants to make Sengun fans look like idiots with your way of defending him and attacking his teammates.
If you understand this from my message, you have zero iq.. l dont hate Jalen but at the same time he is not and he can not be this teams star if he does not change his mindset. That's what l am saying Jalen and Alpi will become good duo, they will take us to victories but why dont you accept that Alpi is 1 and Jalen 2? You and some of fans overvaluing Raw athleticism and trying to replace it with real, structured basketball.. This is not athleticism, this is not street ball, this is professional, NBA Basketball. Thats what l.am talking about. No logic can explain me your and some of fans this Jalen hype.Nobody says Jalen is not a bad player, but he is not a star at the same time.. He still tries to learn basketball, he does not have a professional background like Sengun- Sengun is a MVP in worlds third best league,he is more mature than Jalen and it is a normal thing. İt is stoopid to compare them... Thats what l say..
I didn't read that he hates Jalen, he just hates any poster that isn't absolutely positive that Sengun is MVP calibre. He is the definitiion of a Segunatic which is ok, but can't be taken seriously when talking about the Rockets team as a whole. Anyway he is wrong. Amen is our best player. LOL
Amen is not an evenstarting player bro.. Amen is still learning basketball.. Sengun is in MVp Ladder, Sengun is in all star list I dont see Amen, Jalen etc.names in that tier.. where are they? Who are other coaches doubling? Sengun. Trippledoubling? Sengun.. What is the first Rockets player on their game strategy? Sengun So; What is this bullshit you talk about? I said l dont hate Jalen, but l also never let you undervalue Rockets' prime player. You have no right for this. What is Senguns Fault? Being humble, being unselfish, placing his team above his daily stats? We have a great player in personality and sportsman, and his award are fans like this.. Bravo to all of you... Toxic fanbase
Teams are doubling players in specific spots. They double Sengun in the post. At the same time defenses act as if Sengun doesn't exist when he sets screens or does hand offs at the perimeter when he pops out instead of rolling where his defender blitzes and doubles the ball handler which is Fred or Jalen in that case.
We all love Sengun, but don't worship him and get jealous when other players play well. Sengun is in his fourth year. Why are you so defensive about Jalen and Amen? Jalen gets doubled as well. Sengun getting doubled is as much a function of Ime's offense than it is Sengun's capabilities. Moving FVV off the ball has changed the entire dynamic of our offense for the better and as observed last game is opening up opportunities for Sengun to attack the basket before he is doubled. Basketball is a team game. Playing through FVV and Sengun has made us one of the worst offenses in the league, not because they are bad offensive players, but because it does not suit our team.
Sengun is the best player in this team, this is not disrepect to others, this is the reality. Yes basketball is a team sport, but there is hierarchy in a team and Sengun sits on the top. I.have never seen a coach in NBA making game concentrated on Amen or Jalen. Sengun is the difference maker. With Sengun and FVV games, this team walked through this long road. Your "Alpi and FVV worst offense" put us in #2.. Your guards can not shoot consistently, they waste %70 of Sengun's passes that maybecome asists. So whole NBA coaches do not know basketball and in all their pre or post game conferences, they say Sengun is Houston's best player. And you, some fans, know basketball better than NBA pro coaches??? My friend, Sengun sits on the 9th MVP Ladder of NBA right now. Do you know this? When did last time Rockets center or player is praised in this level? I believe you should answering my messages..
Espn ladders don't mean anything. They are click bait for idiots. They are as useless as power rankings that change everytime a team wins or loses a couple. Most reasonable Rocket fans recognize that Sengun has been our best player for the last 3 years. What they also recognize is that Jalen and Amen are becoming better and better and Ime is changing his offensive strategy as a result. It doesn't matter who the best player is, except to player only fans like you. Sengun was having an off year offensively until Ime took FVV off ball and got away from the Sengun/FVV centric offense. Our offensive efficiency with Sengun as the main option was 27th in the league. We are a better team when Sengun is sharing the offensive initiator role with Amen and Jalen.
Agreed. Sengun is awesome, but we won a lot last year without him and with Jalen in the main role. The great thing is that now that Jalen and Amen are getting more playmaking opportunities, the offense doesn't have to rely as much on Sengun and FVV. That's a good thing for the offense (and the team) as a whole. Sengun is definitely our best player for now, but that may not be the case in a year or two - Amen and Jalen both have more potential imo. It's just a question of if they reach it.
Ceiling i would rank them: 1. Amen, 2. Jalen, 3. Sengun Median outcome i would rank them: 1. Sengun, 2. Amen, 3. Jalen
I like what I see recently, and in general I feel like even in his bad stretches this year the process has been better (there are way less pure F games now, the problem is there hasn't been enough A / B games and it's too many C/D/E types.) But until he plays more like this for well over a month, this meme still holds for Jalen.
This retelling should feel like a good bit of fiction to the keen observer. This post and all the others. Firstly, I have yet to see us run consistent Princeton sets through Alperen Sengun. Very, very few. Saying that “playing through Alperen has resulted in…” is incredibly disingenuous. Playing through Alperen has in fact not really happened. We isolate him occasionally and feed him in the roll, and are starting to do a better job hunting him when he gets deep post position, but this offense hardly runs through him. And it certainly hasn’t used him as the sort of Adelman hub that many of us envision. FAR more often over the last few years, we have seen the guards dribbling the air out of the ball and shooting league worst percentages, with very little off-ball movement that an Alperen-centric offense would demand. JG is doing a much better job of making quick decisions and not being a ball-stopper, or a ball-watcher, or a ball-scratcher. He is also making wide open shots that he was missing before, many coming off the spacing of the 20th most double teamed player in the NBA. You can thank Fred, Alperen, and Ime Udoka for dragging Jalen Green’s basketball intelligence along with hardcore training wheels. He needed them. He probably still needs them. And that’s OKAY. We should be careful with talking down on Fred and Alperen, who have existed for 2 years without average SG spacing. Speaking of which, the fans in here asking for JG spacing are from the same crowd that was asking for Bruno Fernando lobs. Please lawd let’s not go back to the dribble dribble show. Play through the players that make their teammates better, and let JG hit dingers…
