I jsut hope he starts getting to the line more period. Jalen should be getting to the line the same amount as Ja.
I want his counter to develop into a drive when they try and recover to the 3pt line… and would love to see that bank middy he used also - that can be his floater til he develops one
He did his first 2 years he was up there on FTA on drives per game and was 3rd in 22-23. Since Udoka took over his touches decreased and Fred handled the ball mainly. I have seen in the past few games he has been given more opportunity to initiate the offense instead of Fred.
FVV being off ball is the key that will make this offense run more effectively, period. Ime has finally figured it out, I hope. If jalen and Amen continue to improve, we don't need a trade to put us over the top.
FVV only being off balls because of amen all the starting lineup. I don’t believe Ine will insert Jabari back in the starting lineup. Our defense has regressed but our offense has improved
It's not really possible to get that many drives in our offense. Jalen always tries, but it's not always there. Guys like Fox and Ja average 15+ drives a game. Jalen is around 9. Those guys are not good shooters either but our fanbase has decided to blame Jalen while those players' coaches just created systems that suit slashers more. I don't think Jalen is even in the top 70 in the NBA, I was too lazy to count past page 1. Absolutely criminal. Here are some players who drive to the basket more than Jalen, we should be ashamed honestly.: JJJ CJ Mccollum Julius Randle Malcolm Brogdon TJ Mcconnell Ok so I told you in this order because I wanted Jaters at this point to think "well who's fault is that?". It's Ime and Stone's fault plain and simple. Because Jalen averaged 12.9 when he was a lesser player and skinnier under Silas when no one in the world was pushing him to be aggressive and attack the basket. Because even an incompetent fool like Wood - as long as he can make 3's, defenses will have a problem with Jale Only Sam Vecenie would be so stupid as to purport we're at his limit and this is how he would perform in any offense. It's not like we had amazing shooters under Silas btw. It just so happened our C could do nothing except shoot (Wood). This offense was jammed and for over a year Ime tried to convince us there's nothing wrong, it's right to reduce Green's drives in half and double his 3's, those shots are the only good shots we can get and Jalen is doing the right thing. It was all BS. We're still in that situation right now, but Jalen has just gotten better at overcoming this ridiculous test plus with the presence of Amen he's making up for it with points in transition or when defenses are not set.
I agree with this except why blame Stone? Coaching is Ime's job, people here on CF even claim Ime makes the trades and signings too but somehow Stone controls the coaching?
Nice catch KP. You know how they're twisting it these days? Last season, they wanted us to take for granted that Jalen Green on a 30-win-calibre-team demolished 11 30ish-win-teams in a row and nearly won best player in the NBA for that month. Remember? It's easy, anyone can do it, it's just a MONTH LONG "streak" of above average performance nothing more. Now? They want to disregard his first half because the proof is in how he does the rest of the season. You know, the part they said it's easy and anyone can do. Like it's the minimum to nearly win NBA player of the month in March. We all want Jalen to have a good full season, but we are talking about whether it's looking promising now or whether it's looking like every other season. They insist that the mid point of this season is no different than any other season. They conveniently forgot they believe the second half is easy and doesn't really count.
Does that guy really believe people were saying that basketball as a sport is easier for each and everyone on this earth in the month of March? The talk around Jalens scorching hot month of march last season was that The Houston Rockets schedule was somewhat light that month.
Yeah, I don't really understand that either. Nobody says "March basketball is easy" in general. Just that particular March in 2024. Unless someone can bring up a good reason behind the trend, it's just an interesting coincidence that he performs particularly well in that month. It's neither the beginning nor the end of the season. It's not even right after the all star break.
While looking at the number of drives, I looked at how effective they are in their drives. Ja and Fox are around 58%, Jalen is at 46.9% despite taking half the shots compared to that guys. They are in completely different worlds because driving is not just shooting. I looked at where Jalen stands in terms of fg% in drives, he is in the middle of the second page as well. All the guys you listed as to be ashamed of have similar or better stats than Jalen despite doing it more. I don't really get how you conclude he should drive more. We can hope that he will improve on that but it is not because he is good at it right now or his numbers justify driving more. As a certified jater, it doesn't look to me like a fault. It looks like his current performance in drives doesn't justify a higher number and Ime's choice is a reasonable. You might not like it or do it differently but it is not something crazy at all.
Ja and Fox's effective as the rim is another level above Greens even by eye test alone. Jalen actually doesn't explode off the ground as the other 2, he relies a lot more on speed and squeezing past defenders where as Ja literally just elevates over them.
