I will miss him... Springer, Correa, Yuli, Tucker...maybe Bregman. I hope he remembers the playoffs he has had with the Astros fondly, because he isn't going to see it next season. It's been a long while.

Man.. that Glenn Davis trade lol.. The Stros got a ton of talent obviously but IIRC we were just giving everyone away to sell. Look at the careers Finley and Schilling had.. Harnisch was no slouch either.. but dang.. talk about a super win via a trade. And we just traded those guys away as well.

We have been fortunate to have the last decade of Astros baseball. Hopefully we can re-tool and our farm keeps the winning at all costs mentality. It’ll get ya paid eventually.

Matt Shaw Stats and watching his highlights, he looks like Jose Altuve. High Leg kick in his swing, hits the other way. Matt Shaw is going to be big time.

Yep, that's why I was hoping he would be the guy in the trade.

Lol,. Cubs fans have to be having a meltdown. Why trade for Tucker and nickel and dime him over $2.5m? They trying to get him to perform well in a contract year and trade him by the deadline for max gains? Sheesh

Are you saying that if Tucker only gets $15MM, he will just not try as hard and cost himself tens of millions in his next contract?

Tucker fights for every dollar he can get. The Astros went through their own ugly arbitration process with him that left him pretty annoyed 2 years ago - also over a $2.5MM difference. And he proceeded to play just fine.

Kyle Tucker ready to move on after loss in arbitration

No, I’m saying that has to put a bad taste in Kyle’s mouth. After I posted this I went to check out the Cubs subreddit and they are all kinds of pissed at their ownership.

Right - but I guess my question is why does that matter? As long as he performs, it's all the same in the end.

Tucker will sign with whoever gives him the most money, he's made that pretty clear

In the history of baseball arbitration, these sort of face-offs have come up countless times.... and it never matters in the end, either way.

This is pure conjecture on my part, but I think arb hearings are a lot less contentious now than they used to be. With the analytic revolution everybody has the same book of numbers now ("don't yell at me, yell at the spreadsheets"), where in the past there was a whole bunch of gray area. IIRC Tal Smith was one of the wizards of arbitration, so much so that when he wasn't with the Stros other teams would hire him to prep their cases.

I may be wrong, but I thought I recall the Astros doing similar to Tucker two years ago and Tucker was pissed when he lost in the arbitration hearing.

    I remember him losing.

And I remember US projecting that he was probably pissed.

    Don't remember anything from him.

I don't remember noticing anything to indicate he was pissed.

Out of his own mouth he said it was just business and no hard feelings.

And even if he was mad, he had an amazing season. Baseball is at it's core a sport of individuals, you can't really hurt the team without significant self sabotage and he's not an idiot.

He wants to get paid, he will do whatever is best to make that happen and that means playing extremely well.
