Athletically speaking, he was one of the top leapers of his draft class, a below average draft class not to say the least. However, that gets negated because the majority of NBA players are more athletic than he has ever seen in College. Basically nobody is scouting him in his 1st year or game planning him.....but with more game plans his smaller size will pose problems. Also we are entering an NBA that has cracked down on ridiculous 140 point games and is mostly focused on Defense and the NBA players have improved on Close Outs on Shooters.
I don’t see teams successfully picking on Fred. I do see teams picking on Zach Edey, who has all the size.
The bar for ROY is so low it’s between Sarr, Edey and Castle. None would get meaningful minutes on the Rockets.
He’d certainly put up better numbers than your boy Edey last night, who will be a good player but likely never great. I swear, so many people lack perspective when judging rookies. There’s always people like you who overrate guys like Edey and Knecht, older rookies who generally adapt to the NBA better than younger prospects before their progress grinds to a halt, while the younger players with higher upside gradually improve.
Disagree, Jock can shoot Adams is tough Amen is a biological freak. Sarr = Zhou Qi Edey = Jock Landale Castle = Jae'Sean Tate
Reminds me of the Tyreke Evans draft where he ran away with the ROY in a draft class that included Blake Griffin, James Harden, Ricky Rubio, Steph Curry, Demar DeRozan, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague(shout out to Club 520 legend - home of the funniest NBA stories), Rocket legend Pat Bev, Danny Green, Patty Mills, Olympic medalist and ex-Rocket legend Chase Budinger, AND the forever Rocket legend Sergio Llull. I doubt this draft class will be THAT good, but I think this was a case of many players in this years draft needing time to develop.
At the beginning of the season, when they should have sent him, I was saying 12 ppg. But that would have been after a long stint in the G league and late in the season. As I said before he should have been down there with Whitmore. Funny thing is 11-12ppg is the average for this draft class so far.
