    Beats me.

The same folks b****ing about lefties cheering the murder of a healthcare CEO have been equally crass about people and their homes going up in smoke.

Lot of crocodile tears when you think about it, and a big reason our country is strangling itself to death.

People who are rich have more means to recover from disasters like this.

They also often get more media attention, especially if they are famous.

So, I guess in terms of sympathy it can go both ways.

I believe people even here are less sympathetic towards the losses incurred by the wealthy. Some empathy still exists though.

A truly wild thing to say about the people in this country's second-largest city.

Which shows their lack of a moral compass.

    It wasn't a brush fire
There wasn't a lack of water - the system simply can not support the rate of water needed at that elevation
no demonstration that surveillance and response would have changed the outcomes
suspended fire fighters were hired back
where was the quality of firefighters an issue here?
Final budget in Nov showed a $53 million dollar INCREASE
Where did the inspections impact the fire? Is there any evidence of that?
Let's not even get into super subjective things like DEI that can't even be measured on a factual basis.

Seems like these are just made up reasons to formulate an attack vs actual real analysis. Normally it takes months or years to understand how to prevent future disasters. But every armchair policy expert with a twitter account will jump in and chime in without knowing and understanding all the facts.

hesitant to wade back in, and a caveat right up front: no, I have not studied the LAFD budget nor do I know anything about it.

but the statement "Final budget in Nov showed a $53 million dollar INCREASE" seems to be contradicted by what I'm reading from LA-based media sources, e.g.,

Yes, Los Angeles cut $17.6 million from the fire department’s budget
The Los Angeles Fire Department’s budget was cut by nearly $17.6 million this fiscal year. That’s a roughly 2% decrease from the previous year.

honestly, I think the budget is a side show, but it would be nice to get a baseline about which reports are accurate/true vs inaccurate/false

I think people have more sympathy for those that have more challenges recovering and rebuilding than those that have fewer challenges rebuilding, relocating, and recovering from the hardships. Not really a lack of moral compass.

So if someone had a nicer house, it's more ok that it burned down.

    Got it.

I read the initial budget did have a cut but final budget was an increase.

You sourced your "facts" from the twitter mob, I sourced mine from actual journalists. That's the difference
