I also counted two big possessions where Memphis was coming back and Green hit a huge step back three and also created a shot out of nowhere that showed enormous growth. He got past the defender, slowed down to put his body on him, then absorbed contact from the weakside help for what could've potentially been an and 1.

That being said, I do agree there were some possessions where Green mishandled the pressure and FVV stepped in. That's exactly what you want to see from a vet on a team full of guys growing into their potential. Green is growing into handling those situations better and I can think of several games this season where he capitalized on big moments and won us games -- that's a part of growth.

Let me put it this way. What Green showed in his growth as a defensive player is what makes me confident his shooting will eventually become more consistent.

Usually its the lack of work put in that makes someone Michael Beasley instead of Devin Booker.

Someone as gifted as Green showing he puts in the work while also being merely a streaky shooter than a horrendous one is what gives me hope he eventually will be more and more consistent.

It might look like a gradual improvement of 3 game hot stretches and 3 stinkers instead of 2 hot games and 4 stinkers. Then eventually is 4 great games and 2 stinkers.

The overall trend is upward. There might be some minor sips here and there

This is some top tier eye test analysis.

So Jalen Green isn't LeBron James. Interesting analysis.

fully agree. This is much better than than the forced statistical arguments, like comparing his stats to pre all-star stats as if there is some switch that causes him to play better after all star break.

his variance in offense is still high but his average is going up and stability in defense makes the variance in offense much more tolerable.

It's crazy to me how many people on here seemingly root for certain players over others on the team. Never understood that logic, but I think you are right about the credibility race and it begins with the day the players are drafted.

Quite frankly, I don't give a **** about any of the players - I only care about the Rockets.

Sengun has been the best player on the team for 3 years now.

I know people who would rather cut off one of their limbs than to ever admit that (or even just that he is now) lol.

Ha! My bad; I misread and thought you were referring to Jalen. Should've known better, seeing as how he's bad at basketball and shouldn't even be in the league.

Ah yeah, Jalen isn't on that level yet, but the way he's played the last 4 games would make him a perennial all star if he could maintain it. That's very unlikely, but not impossible.

Agreed. That could change someday as Amen ascends. Right now I want those guys and the best shooting possible, on the court as much as possible.

Sengun is my favorite kind of player and maybe my favorite player. But I think Amen is just as important as he is now, and might be moreso later. He can unlock so much, like Draymond did for Golden State. Pair them with the best scorer possible and add shooting, you've got a fringe contender even if no one plays better than they have this month.

    That's stuff I would say.

And if they do bad one game, trade them.
