Nobody on this board knows anything personally about Cam. For all we know, he brings donuts in each day before practice. He is a very talented player who believes in himself and has improved defensively. Be HAPPY he’s on our team because without him we’d be a very boring and deficient second team offense. His attitude is pushing the guy in front of him to not fall asleep on the job because he knows someone else is gunning (no pun intended) for it. Ime loves that he has “hungry” players pushing others not to slack and lose their playing time. We are 25-12 with limited talent folks!
This board is funny. Me: I love Cam's potential, he's just really selfish with the ball and slow to think on defense. It will take time but we can develop him within 3 years. Mr X: HOW DARE YOU. ARE YOU DOING THIS BECAUSE YOU LOOOOOOOOOVE JALEN GREEN?? Mr X: No I love them both, in fact their path is very similar except Cam will not lose a year or two to Silas. So it won't take till 4th year. Just 3rd. Board: Hater. 6 months later: Me: Damn, we're still not there and Cam's sulking, he needs to work on that. However, we're still 1/3rd of the way through the window, so we can develop him. Mr X: it's over I'm sure, he will never be anything and he's already too old to be talking about potential. What next, we say he's young when he's all of 21 years old? Come on guys. The in-season swings on Cam are wild just because of a couple of flaws like every other non-elite pick. The game is half defense and he's a better defender than last season. Treat it like he got that much better offensively because that's exactly its value. We're all disappointed and wanted this to go better, but it's time to reset and remind yourself we have an overachieving 20th pick. You're mentally acting like we have an underachieving #4 pick. Habits take months and years, not days and weeks - this was one of Ime's first statements as HC.
The much bigger problem is Cam doesn't see: - His teammates: who was he going to replace when he put up 17 in 17 minutes? Amen with 20/15/4/3? Or Jalen's 29 on 22 shots with 7 of 15 from 3PT land with better defense than Cam? - Himself: Cam your "strength" is your shooting and you're struggling there (29%). At everything else you're one of the worst in the league. Horrendous team defense. Negative asst/to ratio. Poor ball handling for a SG. No rebounds, blocks or steals. He hasn't even flashed high enough potential. You should be mad at whoever didn't develop your game. We're the first people in your life who are taking your development seriously. How has it worked out for you thus far that everyone overlooked your development and just gave you minutes? How did it work out for Jalen that Silas have him minutes and shots without caring if he's deepening his bad habits? Just a classic case. Wish I could have a chat with him and let him know his problem is that he hasn't resolved an insecurity about how he's perceived and that's spilling into his promising career. His ego needs a boss - that can be him or he can allow Ime to do it. When you withdraw from your team mentally and spiritually, that's you telling your ego you run away from problems and then you've opened Pandora's Box. That hurt-ego life has sunk many men. Having said all that, it's entirely reasonable to expect him to mature over the next 18 months before we have to extend him. 20 year olds can change significantly with a good ecosystem.
Young players with no attitude issues don't just stop playing even garbage time. Sheppard also shot like crap and still got minutes. If you just look at what Ime does rather than just listen to what he says, you'd know what he's really thinking.
Well, if you think having attitude issues equates to mental illness, I think we are already too far apart on certain meanings of English words.
Having attitude towards others/certain events is just the manifestation... Mental illness/anxiety of failure could be a reason why. Could be something entirely different too....You got to have find the Place of Origin. People thinking he is a brat feeling arrogant and entitled, that might be, but it is a lazy take without researching.
This isn't about Cam having a mental illness or bad attitude. Those are diversions that allow some of Cam's most hardened fanatics to avoid discussing the stupid things he does on the basketball court. It lets them play matador, call you ******* in return and pretend they have clue. So juvenile.
He is just young and his role is different, he will have to mature just like most NBA players.....just let him grow. DD
Didn’t shoot well last night but he is still performing on the court for the most part, definitely still playing with effort. He’s young, just let him work through it. He is needed on this team. We will need his scoring off the bench this season.
Me and my son took a picture with Cam yesterday. He gave a big smile for the photo. After me and my son saw the photo my son was soooo happy because of his big smile. He has my respect for making my son happy in a very positive way.
Unless those 20+ other teams found long term issues with his knees. He might be most valuable to us as cheap depth right now.
