Bro, try firing a head of a city entity that has every backing from DEI groups.
Incompetence is swept under the rug for the advancement of cultural initiatives.

Bet they have a hell of a co-ed softball team though. She looks like she could turn on a pitch.

There isn't a MAGA crowd in here. Maybe a few posters. Why are you not calling out Newsom? Predictably because he's left. I will say the military should have been deployed sooner buti don't know the logistics of it.

I have two frat brothers snd their families who are on their way to stay with us. Obviously they had to stop at a hotel to rest. Their homes are going to be gone. A lot of us are affected by this. Somehow you chose to make it poli. Newsom failed. That's reality and if you also have people you care about dealing with this you should be upset at him too. Look at how he cut the fire fighters budget, who he appointed and the water shortage. He's turned what was once a great place into something different. You'll willfully ignore that though.

Yep. Wake up. Take your own advice

How is she not qualified? They fight fires. They have nothing to do water supply forest management, culling dead trees, etc.

I'm not necessarily sure about Bass. L.A. is made up of tons of suburbs which have their own fire departments and everything is managed by the actual suburb/town. I'm not sure what the mayor's role is for ensuring there is enough water. If it is a state level thing she isn't to blame. If it is city then it is on her shoulders.

Newsom is absolutely to blame for a lot of this.

Biden doesn't pass spending bills and can't just give California money, that Congress hasn't passed, on a whim.

for the most part true, but there are scenarios where the President can shift discretionary funds around via executive order

    see e.g.,

Fact check: Presidential spending through executive orders is possible

True, but the money has to come from somewhere. Congress. Plus, what determines how that discretionary money is spent? I know the President does it, but there are needs everywhere. Could you imagine if he sent millions to California for fire/water management? It seems CA has the money. I dont recall seeing them request more for water/land management. I could be wrong. You seem to be good at researching. How much of California's forests are federal government land? Can the governor do anything to it like culling trees, etc. or does it have to be done federally? I'm not being a smart ass here. I really don't know.

California has to prop up states like West Virginia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Wyoming, North Dakota all of the Republican led states that can’t function without being subsidized by California and New York. If states were only able to take in closer to what they pay out in federal tax, California would probably look like Dubai at this point.

this came up yesterday. if you look at a map at where some of these fires are, you've got a patchwork of local, county, state, and federal lands all around Los Angeles. The criticisms about fire management policies apply to all of those, but you have jurisdictional issues at play throughout.

So northwest of the city, where the Palisades fire has led to the evacuation of Topanga (which I'm familiar with), you're right in the middle of the Topanga state park, but that park is itself managed as a unit within the broader Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. So the USDA Forest Service and the state have joint control over the firefighting in that area.

North of the city is the Angeles National Forest. Don't know the exact boundaries there, but I believe the Eaton fire and the Lidia fire to the north are both either in the Angeles N.F. (Lidia for sure) or on the edge of it (Eaton).

In the more populated areas you have more state and county parklands. I think those are the ones where the Governor comes in for more criticism.

In my view, most of the criticism at the moment is political grandstanding, which is distasteful to say the least while peoples' lives and homes are at stake. There will be plenty of opportunity for Monday morning quarterbacking and political recriminations later.

    on edit: Lidia fire
