The point should be about Bezos AND corruption. The alleged corruption here directly has to do with buying influence/favors/lenience from people in power. In one case you’re talking about enriching the family of a sitting President, and the other you’re talking about donating to a non-profit founded by an ex-President. On the question of corruption, I would say that distinction is pretty important.

It’s simply good business by Amazon to put together a documentary on Melania. Melania is a former model and an interesting person. People will watch. But this assignment is consistent with her talents and a smart business decision by Amazon — they will profit on the documentary. Hunter Biden on the other hand is not an energy expert and not an artist. So the people paying him millions received no tangible value from those services. It was purely to gain access to Joe Biden. VERY different.

Not saying they are completely different. Rich people try to buy influence, and they do so with both parties. Impossible to dispute that. One smells way worse to me than the other, and not just because it’s Trump vs Obama. If this was a charitable donation to a Trump non-profit while he’s out of office, it would not seem nearly as bad to me. Also, it’s difficult to ignore the context which is Trump openly threatens and attacks people who defy or oppose him.
