I hope he has figured it out but more likely he is just hitting his usual post all star break "streak" a little early this year. His biggest issue is consistency. If he can do what he has been doing lately consistently I will gladly admit I have been wrong about him.
He is obviously better defensively but still way too inconsistent on offense. He still takes way too many shots when he is off. Overall he is a better player and if he can keep this up than we got a steal with the deal we gave him. Time will tell. Keep it up Jalen.
It's just a quick and easy way to give you an idea of good games/bad games. Obviously basketball isn't baseball, you don't have a WAR stat that supersedes everything else.
But the stat has always been considerred pretty bad, similar to how PER was always kind of laughed off. Just dont see the value it provides, even in the context you provided.
Yep, I've been saying that the best solution for the Rockets to become a true title contender is for Jalen to become a genuine elite scorer. That would be better than any big trade. Look at this season as a whole, he's still far from being there. But recent performances are encouraging. Let's hope that this isn't just one of his hot steak.
To some degree sure, PER for example overrated certain big man traits. In general though, if a player is consistently putting up gamescores of 5 that player is awful, and the jokic/shai guys with really high game scores are the best players. The part I like about gamescore and you can see how consistent a player is. No stat/metric is perfect though. People here also discredit EPM, and all other metrics that make jalen look bad.
If Jalen basically plays like Booker going forward, the Rockets are in a great position. If Jalen plays like Booker going forward, and the Rockets also add Booker to replace FVV, it will be even better.
It would redundant. A diversity of skillsets amongst our best players can be a long term strength. Amen pairs with Jalen a lot better.
Amen and Jalen is our starting backcourt next year at least. I suspect that Jalen gets it together in an up tempo offense. We don't need another plodder like FVV or Booker to a lesser extent. Fox you could make an argument for if you didn't already have Amen. We should continue to develop our youth unless a true superstar like Ant or Giannis breaks lose.
Amen would be there too. Redundancy is more a problem for weaknesses. Booker has shown he can play on and off ball. Sure, you might not get 100% of the value out of a player by having a great and deep team, but I'm fine having an incredibly dominant team that has too much skill to get the most out of each player.
Booker would encroach on Senguns heat map. They both operate in the same zones. Booker isnt bending a defense with the ball so if he was here in that scenario he would be relegated to a spot up shooter which is fine, but not for the 171Ms he's due over the next 3 years.
Now I'm hungry but talking about steak in the GARM in a Jalen thread might make the site explode. F it, rare or well-done peeps, let your steak opinion be known (bloody sucks FYI).
