The thing is, he should be happy right now. He’s getting minutes, he’s playing well, the team is winning. I guess we are seeing why he dropped in the draft. I really hope he can get it together and see the big picture. We are a team stacked with young talent. Not everyone is always going to get the minutes they desire.
So each year a NBA's team cap goes up. Assuming we stick with the homegrown kids. Tari and Bari are up on their extension. 3pt shooting is still very much a premium on this squad. Especially around non shooters: Alp and Amen. Friendly contracts are valuable: Holiday, Whitmore. Even Jeff, he's looked as a spacing big. By the time, Amen, Reed, Cam are up for extensions, the cap room will go higher, so more money in the pie for Stone to hand out. But in the mean time as Bari and Tari's pay gets more expensive, take advantage of Cam and what little the 3pt spacing we have while he's still on that rookie deal. Backup, 3pt spacing guard: Holiday Backup, 3pt spacing wing: Whitmore Backup, 3pt spacing big: Uncle Jeff When injury hits or offense stagnates, their numbers are called.
I think he needs a good therapist. All kidding aside he's obviously got something going on inside himself that he needs to sort out. Otherwise the tension is going to keep coming out sideways. The other option is he just flails around, pissed off, until he is traded and then hopefully grows up someday. There's a theory, not sure where it came from, that most high performing groups have at least one "*******." Something about the tension of keeping up, or functioning within a high performing group, that brings out the worst in people I guess. I've been that ******* before, just ask my wife.
This thread is hilarious!! As long as Cam doesn't become a distraction, hinders the growth of the team or does something stupid/immoral like hitting a woman I couldn't care less if he didn't watch Mr. Rodgers when he was a kid!! I would 1000% prefer Cam having a chip on his shoulder than him being one of those laffy-giggly players after a loss!! The kid is frickin 20yrs old!! Trade him just because he wants to be an alpha dog?? FYI.... Both Tari and Jalen know the kid is dangerous!! If he ever becomes an average/solid defender he could easily surpass one or both of them in the pecking order!! Unless we are getting a SOLID return for him, there is no way I'm trading him at 20yrs old!! ....... ....... .......
Cam does have really bad body language and sulks when he is doing well, which is weird, and I think his NBA career has not gone the way he wanted from the beginning. I think he thought the Rockets would consider him at #4 in the draft and they passed on him, which stung, then the next 15 teams passed on him, which I'm sure was a major blow to the ego, then he ends up with the same team that gave him the initial rejection. I think that still leaves a sour taste in his mouth and so when he is performing at a high level he is pissed because he is playing at his expectations but can never be that top pick which he envisioned himself to be and wanted to get paid as. Not only that but he is probably angry to be on this team and wants to go elsewhere to punish Stone and Udoka and hurt them back the way he feels hurt. Lots of emotional conflict that he will have to decide if it's worth holding onto or not. With time it will fade but hopefully not too much time or he will end up poisoning his own mind and career.
Tbf those things never see the light of day until very late and we are not close to having the full information of what is going on and what goes thru his head....... For now he is just an introverted teenager.......happens to be on a semi contender. I already miss the soft reporting of Jonathan Feigen on stuff like these.
I don't think Cam is a bad boy. He's very young and his career trajectory hangs in the balance during these early years... if he gets an opportunity and succeeds, then he is set up for an amazing career. If he doesn't get the opportunity, or doesn't succeed, then his career looks much different. Stress levels are high, combined with youthful testosterone levels high. There's also probably some frustration in that he sees himself as a good player who isn't getting looks.
I think everyone see's the writing on the wall Cam included. My biggest peeve is that he wont dap up his teammate on the free throw line. He's just off in his own little bubble looking for butterflies.
We saw Cam in the Gleague last year sat courtside, my youngest son who is a D1 College soccer player and captain of every team he has ever been on told me he wouldn't want Cam on his team, said his body language and attitude were poor qualities for a team, and cancerous. I told him that some guys are young and need to mature, and he said that his coach or captain better find him an attitude adjustment or he will whine his way out of the league, regardless of talent. I prefer to give him time and let Ime work with him, but all this stuff reminded me of that talk with my son. DD
LMAO I am not the biggest Cam fan here, mostly because I don't like how selfish he plays, but that is crazy.
Ya Cam has never crossed my mind as a "trouble maker". That's kinda ****ed up to assume Cam could ever be in prison. Hasn't shown any signs up to this point in his life that he's a "bad kid". Just maybe a bit disgruntled and angry that his first couple of year in the NBA aren't like he was dreaming about before the draft. This most likely will be a nothing burger but at the same time there really are too many guys on this team that needs reps and someone is going to be the odd man out unless Cam embraces some type of high level 6th man career like Crawford or Lou Williams.
Dude said he is the most explosive player in the league. But there is at least one player on our own roster who is more explosive, possibly two. But I think this kid really thinks he is/will be the best player in the league. This will be interesting to watch unfold.
