We can force matchups everyday like MDA if we wanted to but we don't so it's definitely not that. Shadon Sharpe, Donovan Mitchell and DeAron Fox didn't match it against the Lakers in the past 5 games. Only Trae Young was able to do it. So against their shaky defense, Jalen punished them more than others. To put it simpler, their perimeter defense might suck but we made it look even worse. What worked here is simply speed. There are points scored in this game that anyone who is 5% slower than Green and Amen will never be able to score. There are points here which a great defense could normally contain by packing the paint, but in this game by the time they got back to their paint the two headed snake was already mid-strike before they could pack it. Those plays were amazing. It's not easy for a SG to score 33 on the Lakers full stop. Jalen's issue is not and has never been about the guy defending him on the perimeter, he can always blow past that person if he backs up and explodes forward without needing to decelerate. It's whoever he meets in the paint that kills his %, usually rim protectors and players with huge wingspan. Today the people crowding the paint were Anthony Davis, Lebron James and DFS. He made light work of them - which is exactly what a star would do to a team of this calibre. So we can just say he played like a star for 1 game.
That's the most frustrating part of watching the team offense for the first quarter of this season. The one significant advantage this team has especially when Amen and Jalen are on the court is pure speed and agility over pretty much every other team in the league and we rarely take advantage of those traits with Fred manning the point be that topic has been beaten to death in the GARM.
yes. it has been beaten to death and unfortunately Ime and Stone ain't listening. Just like last year it took an injury to get Amen playing with jalen on the first unit. Sometimes the fans are right. There is a parallel between when Magic got Paul Westfald fired for Pat Riley. Riley came in an Showtime was born. I'm not saying Ime should be fired, but something needs to be done to keep him from going back to slow it down Fred. This team should be Showtime on steroids.
We don't know shet what happens behind curtains and closed doors......a lot of speculation that the Front Office could be thinking about trades..... It doesn't matter when you are dealing with a secretive organization anyways, you can speculate and demand all you want. But the secrets did not start with Ime, Morey was the last transparent GM, flawed yet transparent. He would give overall rough insights and that is why there were Cyberx and those guys.... Now it is just Ben DuBose spewing his things ......
I agree. Sengun should use his but more! When he does, he makes Lively PJ and Porzingis look like they don't belong in the league. 3 times he did against the Unibrow, 2 trips to the FT line and a hook shot. When he didn't, unibrow spiked away his shot like a volleyball player. During the Mic'd up game last week Sullivan clearly tells him, "Give him 3 shots before you shoot it" Channel CB34
By the way, I sometimes watch Rockets games with my kids when doing bed time. They knew nothing about basketball before. My daughter said the other day "I like when Alpi BUTTS people". I think she was talking about him backing it into the post. Not sure though. Maybe she read this thread.
