Maybe 1? 1.5? With both Amen and FVV we barely beat the Lakers. This notion that Amen is ready to take over FVV’s role is just based on wishful thinking. Frankly they compliment each other at this juncture.
Considering the Rockets offense absolutely dies most of the time FVV is off the court, probably a lot less than they have even though Amen as a wing or SG has played much better than FVV as a PG. The other wings have played better than other people have played PG, also. That said, I want FVV off the ball more (i.e., have him be a secondary ballhandler) as his shooting has been hurting his value. Ideally, getting a lead on ball guy through trade or having Green play well more often would be better solutions than FVV as the primary ballhandler.
I’m a huge Amen guy. I think he’s arguably our best all around player and our best bet at a homegrown superstar. But I think we would have fewer wins in this scenario.
Yeah, I kept wondering when Ime would try Amen as PG on this team again and it's clear he's just not bothering any time soon. Even when FVV's off the court, the usage goes to Sengun and Jalen Green, with Amen is still more of a secondary player on offense. So unless Amen starts getting actual PG role, this is a pointless comparison. I will say though that FVV's team stats looking really good does have some to do with Reed Sheppard being terrible. Hopefully with Aaron Holiday taking over, the offense is going to be more consistent when FVV's off the court.
Amen has been my favorite player for a while, and I think I’m ready to say that he’s our best prospect with the highest ceiling. A 20+/10 guy who plays incredible defense and can play 1 - 5. Is there even a comp for that?
I'd say FVV looks great defensively, and in not turning the ball over. The on/off stats are mostly because there is not a PG ready to play. I'd say Reed has some of that. Amen has some of that. Green has some of that. A lot of this time without FVV has had both Amen and Tari in such that the defense was great. As much as someone may love Amen at the PG, until the Rockets offense can run without FVV on the court, they aren't going to take FVV off the court much.
Aside from his shooting %, FVV has been doing what is asked of him by the team. I think the goal is to have multiple ball handlers initiating and making decisions with the ball. Amen is giving reign to do so, but
Fairly large assumption that Ausar would just be a backup. But living in a no state tax state, back up on a good team, not in Detroit wasting career time, rolling with the brobro? The math maths. Except the 48 minutes thing, if they both play 30+ that's not 48 lol
What a difference it makes when you have a guy that can actually dunk filling the dunkers spot. Amen should FEAST on alley oops.
Those numbers look like something rookie Hakeem might have put up. And just a reminder, Amen has only played in 95 NBA games.
The great thing about Amen Thompson is he could almost play any position on the floor and be successful. Ironically, considering his listed position, I am least sold on his ball-handling and playmaking ability. He is also turnover prone. Next to Sengun, FVV is the guy I’d least consider taking out of the starting lineup. On the other hand, other than three point shooting, Amen can do almost everything Brooks, Jabari, and Jalen do but better.
I was thinking about who is the best comparison the other day and unfortunately the name I landed on was Scottie Pippen.
Jalen definitely is a better ball handler and better at attacking set defenses with a more skilled offensive bag. But obviously that could change if Amen accelerated his development.
