Jabari's injury finally forced Amen into the starting line-up where he has belonged since the first of the year. I have been adamant about benching FVV or trading hiim to get Amen to the starting line-up. If Ime will continue to play FVV off-ball then Amen and Jalen will cook and maybe we can survive the January schedule and get to the playoffs. If we don't trade FVV this year, Jabari will have to come off the bench when he gets back. Amen needs to play 35+ minutes the rest of the year and has to be in the starting lineup. He looks great as the pick man in PnR with Jalen. They should try a lot of that with Sengun and Cam as well.
Honestly, Ben was more gifted. He could effortlessly make passes that only guys like Lebron could make. Amen is more of a dog. I've never seen a player this athletic that is this much of a dog. Of current guys I think the smaller Giannis fits best but he also just processes the game faster than most players. He's unique.
He is like a blend of Giannis (downhill pressure), Dennis Rodman (defensive versatility/first&second jump quickness), and Manu Ginobili (agility/playmaking potential) We got ourselves a very special player
I'm for getting Amen more time. That said, you make it sound like the Rockets are struggling with FVV and that Amen is not developing faster than everyone in his draft class since January 2024 while FVV is logging major minutes. The Rockets are basically 41-24 since Amen became a good player. Most of that is with FVV and Brooks. I was for starting him before the season. Brooks playing well with Sengun has made it difficult to get Amen in the starting lineup as the logical guys to drop from the starting lineup would have been JSJ and Green based on early season play and previous play outside of March 2024. I don't think JSJ will come back as a starter.
Let the kid work his way into the starting lineup. It was one game against the Lakers (though he did match old man James's triple dub.
If Reed was playing as promised coming out of Summer League I would say the Rockets are completely ready for the new guard to take the reigns as starters but 4 out of 5 ain't bad. You could swap Dillon for Amen and not miss a beat.
Amen might be the best player on the team right now. If Sengun was making shots inside, it would be him easily. Right now, the Rockets are winning with 4 players playing well, but not great on average. 5 when Tari is healthy, but his performance looks like it dropped as his health got worse.
True, now we just gotta figure out how to use the highly unique and specific player we drafted - good problem to have.
Not going to lie, I thought Scoot was going to be a top 3 PG in the NBA and I was way wrong. To be fair, I didn't have a strong opinion on Amen because I couldn't find any games to watch on him, but early on in his rookie season I also thought Amen had the highest potential on our team. I also thought Wemby would be the best prospect since Lebron when he was 16 and got hammered for that opinion. I also thought Emoni Bates was the next Durant based on a few youtube videos. Evaluating draft picks is hard! haha
My God. Have you been watching all year? He earned the starting unit months ago. Ridiculous. He will be in the starting line-up the rest of the year. It ought to be for FVV when Jabari gets back, but it won't be. At least, Ime is finally taking FVV off the ball. Earn it LOL.
Yeah, weirdly I don't think the Thompson Twins fit that well together in today's NBA, at least as they are now. Maybe if they both get a lot better as shooters. You could give them each 24mpg and have 48 minutes of Thompson Time, I guess? Would be kind of a waste though.
Seems like both guys are able to impact winning without shooting. And also our shooting already sucks and I'd trade Cam for Ausar so fast even Cam would be able to figure it out.
You could have them each play 34 minutes and only have 10 min on the court together. Seeing a lineup of Amen Green Auser Eason Jabari Would be the most entertaining lineup in history. The flurry of missed shots, rebounds, loose balls would be intoxicating lol
Amen played great, but he shot poorly. He needs to regain his confidence on his corner 3, in practice.
There's no doubt that I'd rather have Asuar than Cam as a prospect and as fun as it would be to have 48 minutes of Thompsons, I just don't think it would work long term unless if Ausar is happier playing as a backup on our team with his brother and his minutes somewhat built around Amen's (3 mins or less each quarter overlapping). Our shooting sucks, but not 22% while wide open sucks. haha. Again, I LOVE Amen on our team and he's my favorite prospect on our team so this isn't meant to be an insult to Ausar or Amen
in his 6 games as a starter this season he's done very well (17.7 pts, 10.7 reb, 2.5 ast) and so has the team (5-1)
