The offense creates a lot of open shots - by NBA standards. FVV & Green are shooting .265 on "open / wide open" shots from 3. This number has been very consistent for Jalen going back to his rookie year. IDK WTF has happened to FVV .... prior to this season he was shooting these at a much higher rate.
What about this random trade? Throw in a pick at the Bulls for giving us Coby White. It's going to cost the Bulls to get rid of Zach and I actually think Zach would be a good fit with the Heat and Spoelstra can put him in a position to succeed. The Heat should not be in rebuild mode, they still have Herro and Adebayo, they need to try to continue building around them and Zach would be a good way to extend that.
Why not just FVV and Reed Sheppard for Coby White and Zack Lavine. I'd rather take on Zack's contract than Jimmy's and getting rid of FVV for Coby White is the real goal.
Personally I rather have Jimmy Butler despite him being a diva. With Jabari questionable for the rest of the year, I wouldn't mind having Jimmy and Dillon start at both forward spots. We can either make Amen the starter at PG and make Coby the sixth man or start Coby. Jimmy can pick up his option for next year and we can see what happens after that. I do wonder if Jimmy is going to be able to negotiate a max contract wherever he goes next. It's one thing to be making that demand and it's another whether a team is going to play ball. Maybe rox and Jimmy would talk prior to the trade and make some sort of agreement. I don't know, just throwing that out there as a random trade.
That's kind of what I am on.... who can give Himmy the max deal he is looking for? BRK? SA? Anyway it goes, acquiring Himmy could be an asset for this year and next year (as a S&T)
So, if you had to guess, what do you think happened to FVV? Note: I've already explained to you last season the wide open stats are deceiving around the whole league because it includes heaves and "wide open" 25 footers. Jalen shot a career-high 37% on open 3's last season and 35.3% this season. That's a dramatic improvement from his previous 27 and 30% shooting seasons. He's progressing just fine on those. His problem is that he increases his volume each season faster than his training can dream of catching up.
It's hard to say .... No significant injuries in his career. He's not really old at 30. He's not taking a large volume of contested shots. The assisted shots % is within a small margin year over year. Maybe you could attribute it to the heavy minutes he's played, 6th consecutive season at 35+ but this year is actually his lowest in that string (I was somewhat surprised by that). I really have no answer, even the workload is just an assumption.
Tired legs are the biggest killer of shooting, yes. You like stats. There are 10 players on the roster playing more than 10 minutes. As a team we're shooting worse than last season with young players a year older. Don't you think it might be related? What might cause a whole team to shoot worse? There are other markers too - the entire team's assists are down and the whole backcourt's assists are down. We were 5th in FTA and now 10th.
FVV, Reed, picks for Fox Tari, Cam, picks for Durant 8-man Rotation Fox Green Brooks Durant Sengun Amen Bari Adams
Stone, don't lose out on Vucevic and watch him go to the Warriors for 2 2nd rounders. He will pair too well with Draymond who himself is making 40% of his 3's this season. They're contending with us for the same seeds. Landale, Tate and 2 2nd rounders. Jabari had been playing a lot of backup 5 for us too, so this would be a good time. Hell, do it to give us a boost for these next 2 months. We're looking shaky heading into The Iceberg.
Are you being sarcastic? I might be missing the joke. 5 picks, Tari and Reed (essentially 7 picks) and 2 swaps? Literally no one in NBA history has sent that many picks. Even if you don't count Reed and Tari as picks, only one time in NBA history have 5 FRP's been traded, and as you remember it was done because they got Paul George AND the cap space to sign an already-agreed Kawhi. So essentially 5 first round picks for Kawhi and George. The rest of the biggest trades ever are all 4 FRP's plus swaps. You get where I'm going with this.
That trade was for haliburton. Bridges just went for 5 1st. That trade proposal included 2 picks, both rockets ones which are not worth very much. You think indy would consider 2 1sts and tari (who's pretty clearly damaged goods) for hali? That's insanity.
How could I forget that overpay. Yes Bridges too, a perfect comparison. However, you're aware 5 is the record. The trade you replied to is: And you wanted to add all future Suns picks and Reed on top of that right?
Want? No, i just think that's what the price would be. He's light years beyond bridges, is only 24, and before his injury looked like a top 5 mvp guy. It's possible him rushing back last season to make the 65 games for all nba ruined him forever though, which is sad. The AD trade is probably the most comparable to someone like hali being traded now, that was the 2 most recent #2 picks, the #4 pick, and 2 future 1sts.
I get it you're saying that's what would be their minimum acceptable offer. There's no way that's true. 29 GM's would laugh if they said that as the minimum rather than the opening offer. You can't use the most anomalistic trade in NBA history to price trades, that's going to give you erratic conclusions. You have to price the average such player. Plus you're ignoring that Haliburton's value is way down this season. Everyone in every outlet talking about it.
Interesting, this article states we have the 2nd best future pick (almost the best) in the league: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...e-surprising-rival-for-dubious-honor-of-no-1/
Star trades always end up going for more than people expect. Look at bridges, durant, any of them. Hell, KD went for 4 1sts and bridges who was an incredibly valuable asset at the time (memphis offered 4 1sts for him, so nets could've just had 8 firsts in that one trade) and cam johnson, also a valuable trade piece. What do you think would be an actual realistic offer that indy would ACTUALLY consider trading hali to the rockets for? I promise you it's not broken down tari and 2 crappy 1sts.
